rstrats: I have been with the SBF for more than 15 years. I have never seen anyone so determined to find an answer, asking over and over the same question for nearly four years. Apparently the very same people who answered you four years ago still have not provided you with a satisfactory answer, but they keep pleasantly trying to help you to the best of their ability. I honestly believe if they has a better answer they would be pleased to give you a better answer. You definitely seem to have become part of the SBF, and trust us enough to seek often if we have found out anything new. I think as we have really reached out to you to honestly replied as best as possible. I think it would be nice if after 4 years you took just a few minuets to fill out some information about you in the Update Account so we can know just a little more about you. If you are willing to do so I will get in contact with some Hebrew Scholars I know of and see what they have to say. This will help me in expending my effort to know how serious you are, and not just a person pestering some very dedicated people who spend lots of time trying to help people with serious questions. Thank You. justme |

justme, re: "Apparently the very same people who answered you four years ago still have not provided you with a satisfactory answer, but they keep pleasantly trying to help you to the best of their ability." re: "I honestly believe if they has a better answer they would be pleased to give you a better answer." re: "You definitely seem to have become part of the SBF, and trust us enough to seek often if we have found out anything new." re: "I think as we have really reached out to you to honestly replied as best as possible." re: "...I will get in contact with some Hebrew Scholars I know of and see what they have to say." From those comments, it seems apparent that I'm not articulate enough to formulate a question in such a way that its meaning is clear. So I shall move on and not do anymore pestering. |

Rstats, your perspicuity is not at issue. Instead, your ability to study -- or perhaps an unwillingness to be taught -- that is at stake. Dollars to donuts you are getting the same information from the many websites you participate in... Ah, I seem to have found a Jehovah's Witness site of which you are a member! Is that your background? |

DocTrinsograce, re: "Rstats, your perspicuity is not at issue..." I never said that is was. I said that it was a lack of understanding by the responders to this topic; and that their lack of understanding must be due to my inability to explain the question. |

Is the following statement in Hesiod's "Works and Days" a satisfactory example? "Show them to the sun ten days and ten nights ...". Nothing can be shown to the sun during the night. I found a post on academia.edu that is very insightful called "Counting of days and nights in the Bible". Unfortunately it lacks citations. Maybe you can contact the author at sil.org for possible examples. | ||||||

Dear ipl, That's a good question! When people do not site a source, we must assume that it arises only from their own ponderings. Speculations like that can easily be ignored. As orthodox Biblical Christians we understand that "The infallible rule of interpretation of Scripture is the Scripture itself; and therefore when there is a question about the true and full sense of any Scripture (which is not manifold, but one), it must be searched by other places that speak more clearly. (2 Peter 1:20-21; Acts 15:15-16)" Consequently, let us not be concerned when nothing is provided as support for someone's speculation! In Him, Doc |
