1 | ARE THE TEN COMMANDMENTS ABOLISHED ? | Bible general Archive 4 | CDBJ | 235707
Greetings, I realize that you said specifically the “Ten Commandments”, which is what is considered to be codex number one of the Mosaic law of which there are three; codex 1, codex 2, codex 3. I would like to start with the verse that you alluded to Gal. 3:19. Galatians 3:19 (NKJV) 19 What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. The portion of the verse, “till the Seed should come” actually answers the reason for the NO in my response. The word “till” in the English is translated from the Koine Greek word “ACHRE” and should be translated “UNTILL” being the preposition in the genitive case. Note translation in the Galatians 3:19 (NASB) 19 Why the Law then? It was added because of transgressions, having been ordained through angels by the agency of a mediator, until the seed would come to whom the promise had been made. There is a duration of time involved abrogating codex one when the seed, which was promised, should come, i.e. the Messiah or the Christ. Jesus Christ is the end of the law for those that are in Him or born again believers, the children of God by faith in Christ. Romans 10:4 (NASB) 4 For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone who believes. Those that have put their total trust or faith alone in Jesus alone, for their eternal state, are actually under a higher law once they rely on the finished work that was completed on the cross by God’s Son. Romans 8:2-4 (NASB) 2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. 3 For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh, God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, 4 so that the requirement of the Law might be fulfilled in us, who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. What Paul is telling us in Galatians is that the commandments point out to us that we a helpless, hopeless and condemned by the law. I like to illustrate our position under the law. Visualize a pole sticking out over Grand Canyon and hanging from the pole is a chain containing ten links, as it were. On the bottom link is a chair welded to the chain and you are sitting in the chair. The chain with its ten links represents the 10 commandments. God has said the following, Romans 3:23 (NASB) 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, This is telling us that the chain just broke due to at least one link falling. How many links does one have to break before they are headed for the bottom of the canyon which is a mile down? (Just one) The only option left is to scream out GOD HELP ME PLEASE!!!! God has done exactly that in the person of His Son Jesus the appointed one. That is what the word Messiah or Christ means, appointed one. God appointed His Son to take your place in the chair and crash at the bottom and in doing so He, Christ gives you what He Has or deserves, everlasting life with the righteousness of God. 2 Corinthians 5:21 (NASB) 21 He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. That’s why I said, Yes and No to the Ten Commandments. Have you come to the place yet where you know, without a shadow of doubt that you have everlasting life with God when you die? It’s a sure thing because Jesus paid the price and God the Father was satisfied with the work that He did on the cross. God promises us eternal life as a gift and He gives us that gift when we put all of our hope in what Jesus did for us, we can’t earn eternal life by doing anything. When we try to work or earn something we are given wages, look what God says about wages. Romans 6:23 (NASB) 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. There isn’t any other way to get to heaven but by Jesus Christ and faith in Him. John 14:6 (NASB) 6 Jesus *said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. Here is a set of promises that you can truly believe in. 1 John 5:10-13 (NASB) 10 The one who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself; the one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the testimony that God has given concerning His Son. 11 And the testimony is this, that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. 12 He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have the life. 13 These things I have written to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, so that you may know that you have eternal life. I hope this clears up my answer to your question and that you have made a decision for Christ as I did many years ago, CDBJ |

There is only one way to salvation and that is through the blood of christ, his blood was shed once and forever,no flesh can be saved by the law, when Christ was crucified the blood ordinances was nailed to the cross with him, circumcision is of the heart both for man and woman.and as for as the law it is what keeps man out of trouble it will never be abolished, we certaintly can't go out and commit murder or steal or all the others,The law is good man is the problem, As Christ said in Matthew 5:17 Think not that Iam (THE SACRED NAME)come to destroy the law,0r the prophets:I AM (AGAIN THE SACRED NAME) not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

When the Bible says that the wages of sin is death; what is it referring to since there are 7 different types of death mentioned in the Bible? Romans 6:23 (NKJV) (A) 23 For the wages of sin is death, When Jesus said it is finished in John 19:30 he wasn’t dead yet so it couldn’t have been His physical that paid the price for sin. John 19:30 (NKJV) 30 So when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit. The word finished in the English is translated from the Koine Greek verb “TELEO” and it is in the indicative mood which means it was “already a reality” at that point in time and the passive voice meaning He had received it so it wasn’t physical death that paid the price! The blood as referred in the OT is what’s known as a representative analogy: it foreshadowed what the Messiah would accomplish when He came into the world. It could only cover sin at that point in time until the Lamb of God would take it away. Again what death was it that paid the price for sin? If you suggest that it was physical death then when we die physically that would pay for our own sins and that won’t cut it! CDBJ |
