1 | If not saved and suicide done Lost??? | Bible general Archive 4 | Mikep | 232396
My heart goes out to your friend. In reading your posts you ask earlier if a child of God (saved individual) commits suicide, would he/she go to heaven (my paraphrase of your question) . Consider the following three verses: John 3:36 "He who believes in the Son has eternal life..." NASB Notice - A believer has "eternal life" Romans 3:23 "For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus" Notice - eternal life is a "gift of God" Romans 11:29 "for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable." Notice - the gifts...of God are "irrevocable" Conclusion: Once a person has eternal life nothing can reverse that gift, a christian committing suicide will still have still have eternal life with God. I hope this helps? God bless, Mikep |

2 | If not saved and suicide done Lost??? | Bible general Archive 4 | G. Preston | 234146
Mikep, Eternal life is not received until AFTER death. The act of suicide is before death. See St.Luke 9-62....et al. This applies as well to the question of..."once saved always saved". We must not confuse preparation/qualifying/eligibility for eternal life with receiving eternal life. |

Hello G Preston, Where do we find in scripture that eternal life is not received until after death? John 5:24 says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. Here "has eternal life" is in the present tense, so grammatically and scripturally, one who believes has eternal life at the point of their belief! Further, John 3:36 tells us, "He who believes in the Son has eternal life; but he who does not obey the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God abides on him." So, it would be more acurate to say that one has (posseses) eternal life now but will not enter into their eternal state until after death. Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |
