Hello ssongssu, Yes, there are times when someone should be put to death. God gave very specific laws on when this was permissible. Those found in the Mosaic Law (adultery, unruly child, etc.) are no longer enforced as we are not under that covenantal law, however there is one (murder) that is enforced because it precedes Moses: Gen 9:5-6 (ESV) And for your lifeblood I will require a reckoning: from every beast I will require it and from man. From his fellow man I will require a reckoning for the life of man. Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image. Steve |

7 | Would Jesus follow this scripture? | Bible general Archive 4 | ssongssu | 197110 | ||
"Anyone who murders man will be killed by man. That is because I have made man in my own likeness." (Gen 9:6) Can you possibly imagine Jesus following this scripture? Killing someone because someone has murdered someone? Wouldn't it be more christian to find out what were the motives of the murderer and try to fix his problems? |

Dear Song, The Lord Jesus Christ is a member of the Triune God as revealed in Scripture. He is the Word incarnate. Note that these words were spoken to Noah by God (v1). Therefore, the Son and the Spirit spoke them as well. Why limit God to the dictates of your fallen imagination (Genesis 6:5; Proverbs 6:18-19; Romans 1:21)? Indeed, if you can't imagine the truth, it is compounding the mistake by finding fault with truth itself! In Him, Doc |
