1 | How do I to better stand on His word? | Bible general Archive 4 | Soldiernurse79 | 229486
When reading and believing on the promises that God has made in his word as far as my daily living is concerned, I am having difficulty seeing when these promises are fulfilled when I am expecting them (meaning believing w/o a doubt that He will do as he says), however, there are times when His promises come to pass without me knowing that such promises existed in His Word since I hadn't read them. I ask this in terms of where He says, "My people perish for lack of knowledge" and since grasping that I have been seearching for everything He is in the Word. I do not doubt that He is faithful to His word, therefore I know I am missing something somewhere. |

Greetings and welcome to the forum. The verses that emphasize your point in question is found in Hosea. Keeping to the text of this verse in context one must put the verse in it’s proper perspective. Hosea 4:1-10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye children of Israel: for the LORD hath a controversy with the inhabitants of the land, because there is no truth, nor mercy, nor knowledge of God in the land. 2By swearing, and lying, and killing, and stealing, and committing adultery, they break out, and blood toucheth blood. 3Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away. 4Yet let no man strive, nor reprove another: for thy people are as they that strive with the priest. 5Therefore shalt thou fall in the day, and the prophet also shall fall with thee in the night, and I will destroy thy mother. 6My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. 9And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings. 10For they shall eat, and not have enough: they shall commit whoredom, and shall not increase: because they have left off to take heed to the LORD. In order for one to understand God’s word there are certain things that must take place first using I Corinthians as a good example. 1 Cor. 2:14 But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. Are you familiar with what it means by the natural man? CDBJ |

I understand that basically the natural man is the carnal (flesh) nature which is contrary to the spirit. Is this accurate?

That’s solid information alright but it isn’t exactly what that verse has in mind. Just like the natural man is born into this world with the equipment to function in this world, like wise the one who is going to function in the life to come, i.e. life with God or everlasting life needs to be born of the spirit so that he has the equipment necessary to understand spiritual phenomenon. That’s why Jesus said the following: John 3:1-6 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews: 2The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him. 3Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. 4Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? 5Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. 6That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Before we can go any further, have you come to the place yet where you know for sure that you have been born of the spirit? CDBJ |

Yes, that I am most certain of, and the more I walk in the spirit and learn to make it my primary nature, the more things like this seem to frustrate me. I have been told that I am trying too hard and wanting too much of myself, but as far as I am concerned, how can you want too much of God and His spirit to be manifest in you? I know that He is a rewarder of those that diligently seek Him, and in a way, I almost don't care about the manifesting of a physical reward as much as I want to walk in harmony in the spirit with His. Part of that I believe is recognizing when His promises have come to pass, which I am having a difficult time recognizing.

None of us know all God's promises. The Bible is full of them. As you read the Bible you will discover more and more what God has done for you in fulfilment of His promises. As you come across them rejoice in them and give Him praise and thanks. Don't worry too much about the others. As you come across them it will like finding diamond after diamond. You have a whole lifetime in which to discover them and enjoy them. best wishes |
