fcs375: The KJV has has many revisions, and there are in print photo copied KJV Bibles from the 1611 orignal. The letters are really mixed up, the letter U is W and because spelling was not standarized words are not spelled like todays English. Dr. C. Gordon Olson has a book out GETTING THE GOSPEL RIGHT. 374 pages that point out a few flaws in the KJV. The Church in Rome had some influence in the KJV. Dr. Olsons book is a must read as far as I am concerned. The KJV is reliable, and many Christians have loved the way the KJV uses the old English. Many of us grew up with only the KJV. The Lord has used the KJV for several hundred years. The KJV is used by God and to down grade the KJV is foolish. I personally find that there are so many Bible translations and different Study Bibles it's hard to keep up with all the Bibles. There are some very poorly translations that have an agenda that is not in line with what the Bible really says. The New Revised Standard Version, the Todays New International Version, are tow examples of twisted translations with unscriptual renderings, and gender netural renderings. I agree the New American Standard Bible is excellent, and comes as close to using word for word translation as English allows. The English Standard Version many say is goo too. The New International Version is a good thought for thought translation. I think the NIV lacks some depth in fine tunning and tweaking the words to convay the rich depth of some passages. Some of us are blessed to have several versions of the Bible. I for one at times have sever versions of the Bible opened all at the same time. There are many tools to help us look at the Greek and Hebrew and see how exact the words we read in English are to those languages. Studing the Scriptures is a lifetime of study and learning. There is no human who knows all about the Bible. You might get together with your Pastor and ask what version he uses and what reccomendations he has. The Torah only has the first old testament books. Jews do not accept the New Testament or Jesus Christ as the only Son of God, by who we are saved. Hope this helps. justme |

Shalom Justme, That was a very interesting post. Thank you. I now use the NKJV, but everytime I have to go look up a scripture out of e-Sword, I have to use the KJV cos that's what is in my memory. I never can remember the other versions' rendering of passages... Yes, God truly has used the KJV. :o) Cheri |
