Dear West, What Dr. Woods is saying is that Apocryphal books are not quoted in the kyrigma. I frequently quote the Scriptures, not just here, but in many other forums and articles in which I write. Such a practice does not impute to the Bible the character of my writing. In the same way, the Bible often quotes other sources. That practice does not impute to the quoted source the Biblical characteristics of authority, infallibility, sufficiency, clarity, inerrancy, etc. The authority of Scripture is foundational to Lockman's rendering of this forum for public use. When we create a screen name, we explicitly affirm this, as an integral part of receiving the privilege to post. (I am confident that people can find other forums predicated on the authority of additional things. A search engine such as Google provides a plethora of potential posting places to please almost any presuppositional preference.) Lockman has provided us with a Study Bible Forum; i.e., we are here to study the Bible. One of the telling features of Lockman's position on this point is that one cannot use their site to search or look up any Apocryphal or Pseudopigraphal reference. See http://www.studybibleforum.com/bibletext.php In Him, Doc |

Dear Doc, Thanks for taking the time to respond. I'm happy to report that the on-line information source "Wikipedia" provides plenty of information on this and other (related) topics. |
