Greetings, You made a statement, which is a little confusing to me at best, you stated, “I am not under the law, I am not saved by the law. I am saved by grace and through faith.” This grace that you speak of, do you keep the Sabbath to deserve it, and the faith you mention what is the object of this faith. I crossed a creek one time, when I was younger, in the chilling dead of winter. It was about ½ a mile around the long “dry” way but I spotted a tree that looked like the perfect answer to my long chilling walk in 6” deep cold snow. I decided to put my all my “hope” and faith in a small tree that had fallen across the creek, seeing it provided me a way of getting over the icy water without getting wet. To make a long story short, I ended up in the icy, bone chilling, water because the dumb tree broke when I was about half way across; I was close to freezing before I got home that day. My faith was sound, or I wouldn’t have stepped out on the tree in the first place; the problem wasn’t with my faith but the “object” of my faith was faulty. My Question is: Is the object of your “faith” keeping the Sabbath, or is keeping the Sabbath your means of acquiring grace? Curious, CDBJ |

In place of the Old Testament law, we are under the law of Christ which is to, “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” -Matthew 22:37-40. If we do these two things, we will be fulfilling all that Christ wants for us to do. We are not under any of the requirements of the Old Testament law. We are to love God and love our neighbors. If we do those two things faithfully, everything else will fall into place. | ||||||

Hi Jagfire, Hay, that really sounds sanctimonious but what do you mean by everything else falling into place? You suggest the following; If "we do" those two things "faithfully", everything else will fall into place. By doing what you mentioned, how do we know if we did it well enough? Will God be satisfied to the extent that He will give us eternal life even if I don’t quite measure up to his standard of doing what you suggest perfect? I think I need some biblical proof that your right; eternity is an awful long time to spend if you are wrong and I’m having a hard time with the heat I’m in now and it's only in the 90's. That doesn’t sound like very good news to me! CDBJ |
