Act 18:26 "And he(Apollos) began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aguila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. You don't think this if the work of an overseer? Paul stayed with them, travel with them, called them his helpers.Do you feel that Paul were only speaking to the men in Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost have made you overseers, to feed the Church of God, which he hath purchased with his Blood. And why would they have a church in their house and not oversee it.And why would they break traditions of that day and from time to time put Priscilla name first (being a woman) except if they out rank the man.

'Act 18:26 "And he(Apollos) began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aguila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly. You don't think this if the work of an overseer?' Nope. Notice they BOTH took him aside privately. We do not see Priscilla leading worship or teaching before a congregation of believers. 'Do you feel that Paul were only speaking to the men in Acts 20:28 "Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost have made you overseers, to feed the Church of God, which he hath purchased with his Blood.' That is what I believe, based on the other Scriptures. 'And why would they have a church in their house and not oversee it.' I didn't say anything about Apollos not being a presbyter. "And why would they break traditions of that day and from time to time put Priscilla name first (being a woman) except if they out rank the man." I guess because she is the boss! The woman is the head of the man, right? ;) --Joe! |

"Joe, you remind me of when the slave owners and traders tryed to justify the slave trade by using the sctriptures." The Scriptures obviously do not prohibit all forms of slavery, wouldn't you agree? --Joe! |

I would us the words (did not) That, yes I would agree with. The Scriptures also did not prohibit divorce. But what did JESUS say about that? What was excepted then is no longer excepted. When the Law of Man said It is "Now" against the Law (man's Law) to own slaves the practice stopped (in the U.S.) When you do not have a ear to hear from God, that is what you need.(Rom 13:3) "For civil authorities are not a terror to (people of) good conduct, but to (those of) bad behavior. THEN DO WHAT IS RIGHT and you will receive his approval and commendation." Do you think man did it out of the goodness of his own heart (Freed the slaves), No. God said "I rule even in the kingdom of men.Thank God.

"I would us the words (did not) That, yes I would agree with. The Scriptures also did not prohibit divorce. But what did JESUS say about that?" Why is what "JESUS" said any more true than what "THE HOLY SPIRIT" said through the apostle Paul? --Joe! |

I have this very same spirit and you have not believed me.Why don't you comment on the question you ask me about slavery? Where is all your wisdom? What I said came from the Holy Ghost and not me. But when it comes to the church there are mysteries that I can not share with you about the kingdom because God is has close it up from you.

"I have this very same spirit and you have not believed me." Because what you are saying contradicts what He has already said. I am indwelt by His Spirit as well. That does not make me infallible. "Why don't you comment on the question you ask me about slavery?" I did in my first post in the thread. Paul tells slaves to obey their masters, and tells masters to treat their slaves well. Therefore, God's primary purpose was not to establish human equality here on this earth. Now, before God the justified slave and the justified master have exactly the same standing (Galatians 3:28). Their relationship should reflect that truth. However, Thomas Jefferson notwithstanding, all people are not endowed by their Creator with an inherent right to liberty. "Where is all your wisdom?" In a 66-volume book from which the Spirit teaches me. "What I said came from the Holy Ghost and not me." How do you know? "But when it comes to the church there are mysteries that I can not share with you about the kingdom because God is has close it up from you." Okey-dokey. --Joe! |

When Paul spoke he knew when it was commanded of the Lord or if it was him.1cor 7:25 "Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: yet I give my judgement, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be faithful. Even the unsaved know when they are being used of God. Acts 12:21-23 "ON an appointed day Herod arrayed himself in his royal robes, took his seat upon (His) throne, and addressed an oration of them. And the assembled people shouted, it is the voice of a god, and not of a man! And at once an angel of the Lord smote him and cut him down, because he did not give God the glory (the preeminence and kingly majesty that belong to Him as the supreme Ruler); and he was eaten by worms and died. Anyone that speaks under the inspiration or anointing of God knows it.Do this mean every time that one speak he is being used, No. But, Anyone who have been given the gift of preaching and teaching must know this. If they do not, something is wrong. How can you ask me "How do I Know? When God filled you with the Holy Ghost didn't you experience that when you spoke?

N.B. More paragraphs and less "stream of consciousness" style make it easier to respond. "Anyone that speaks under the inspiration or anointing of God knows it." I never speak under the inspiration of God the way the Bible-writers wrote under his inspiration. Nor does anyone else. The canon is closed; no new revelation beyond Scripture is necessary for God's people. "When God filled you with the Holy Ghost didn't you experience that when you spoke?" Lots of people experience things. Go ask any Mormon missionary and he will speak of his experiences, a "burning of the bosom" convincing them of the truth of Joseph Smith's gospel. Conviction and experience lead people to fly planes into skyscrapers. The experience is there, but is it of God? Are they valid and God-given? We would be very careful in saying that something is of God because we really feel it inside. --Joe! |

If you have not spoken under the inspiration of God then that explains why you don't understand. If we should be so careful about saying that something is of God because we really feel it inside. Why would God destroy Herod for not giving him the glory? Herod knew full well that his speech was of God and not of himself.God knew that too.You can not understand it because you have not had the experience. As for new Revelations you are correct, but you are talking about writers I am talking about teachers and Preachers of the Word. And God do still do this.I have seen and heard it.I have done it (give God the Glory) I ask about your exsperience. Paul was not carefull about his experience and neither am I.Because unlike the experiences that you give as an excample, they are not in the scriptures.Mine is.For they where filled with the Holy Ghost and Spoke in tongues as the spirit of God gave utterance. And not just one or two times. But many times.Plus the one that says "This sign shall follow them that believe.' They shall speak with new tongues they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. I am not answering back and forward to be right I did it to correct untrue statements. But you are not going to change. And I can't change. It have been interesting.
