Joe, that is precisely true in regards to 1cor 11:3 and Eph 5:22-23 these verses deal with the relationship in marriage. To rightly divide the Word you can not use them with unrelated verses.Even if they seem simular. My wife is subject to me in the relationship and as head of the household even if she was to out rank me in position(which she do not). But, is subject to me(an Elder) only as long as I follow Christ. That is what our Church teaches, and that is what I teach. As for 1Tim 2:12 please read my notes to Dairyleader5 above.

"But, is subject to me(an Elder) only as long as I follow Christ." Then why does the Bible command wives of non-Christians to be subject to their unbelieving husbands as well? It is true that a wife must obey God rather than her husband if he is instructing her to sin, but a husband who is not a Christian is still the head of the believing wife. --Joe! |

Joe,that is the point I wanted to make. You got it! A woman is subject to their husbands, beleiving or unbelieving. When I said "But, is subject to me (an Elder) only as long as I follow Christ." This is in leadership in the Church not at home. She is not subject to a Elder that is not following Christ (an instructing her to sin is not the only way for him not to be following Christ) But she is subjected to a husband believing or not.If it clear this up any, I am an Elder. That is why I used us as an excample.
