Hi john "Basically sin is rebellion against God". Don't want to step on any toes here but, the statement made is a misrepresentation of what the "Word" says that sin actually is. 1 John 3:4 Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. Now looking at the law, did she break the law? Matt.22:37,39,40 37. Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 39. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 40. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Romans 2:14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Well (Matt., and Rom.) answer the question for me. If she was in the same position they were, she would want them to do for her, what she did for them. Then in doing so, she was fulfilling the law even though she did not have the law. She became righteous in her act, and God showed her mercy for that unselfish act. Vintage68 |

Hi Vintage, No problem, your not stepping on my toes. :-) It's not about us anyway, it's about giving out God's word as accurately as we are able. It doesn't matter what I think, or what you think. We are not here for each others approval. We are only concerned what God thinks and seek His approval. Oh, and there's the Terms of Use we agreed to when we registered to the forum too. We need to be respectful of the Lockman Foundation; our gracious host. And of course, it helps if we try to be cordial toward one another. Something I'm working on, or, I should say, He, is working on. :-) "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth" 2 Tim 2:15 I'm sorry, Vintage, but the statement is not a misrepresentation of the "Word" at all. You're correct in saying that the Bible says, sin is transgression of the law, but the bible also says that rebellion against God is also sin, (Deuteronomy 9:7; Joshua 1:18) Let me please try to explain so you will have a better understanding. To disobey God, and willfully transgress His law is by definition, rebellion. To rebel against someone, (in this case that would God) is to go against their wishes or commandments. That is the definition of rebellion. To put it another way, rebellion means to go against or defy authority. Like breaking or, transgressing the law. I hope this helps. John |
