Subject: Rahab righteous or not? |
Bible Note: MJH Basically sin is rebellion against God. I don't think we can rightly say Rahab was rebelling against God, in fact it looks more like she was doing his will by protecting his messengers. James 2:24-25 "You see that man is justified by works and not by faith alone. In the same way was Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?" Part of her works was telling a lie to protect God's messengers. See post 214635 As to your question, it would seem that this situation is similar. I think this could get quite subjective because Scripture doesn't say specifically if it is or isn't, so I end in saying it's my opinion, that it's not always a sin. John |
