2 | Death of the high priest? | Josh 20:6 | srbaegon | 28610
Fareshadowing of Christ........................ I see the picture as those condemned by the Law (therefore punishable by death) who had fled to the city of refuge (God Himself) until that time when the high priest (Lord Jesus) died, thus releasing the debt. There's probably other ways to see this. Steve |

3 | Death of the high priest? | Josh 20:6 | Mommapbs | 28622
Isn't it interesting that although the death was "accidental" or not intentional, it was still punishable by the victim's relatives? There was a reason to run and a need for refuge. I see a parallel with people today who are unaware of sin in their lives. They don't know that they are under the sentence of death; they are unaware of their need for refuge and most importantly, their need of The Savior! And for believer, I find that all too often we may be inclined to wink at sin by thinking, "It's OK, I didn't mean to do it!" But in God's Universe, sin is never OK! Thanks be to Jesus for making a Way for us to take refuge in Him, to be made righteous, and restored! Thanks for making me think this through! |

Scripture ... Numb 35:25-28; Josh 20:6 ... This could be amesty or an atoning effect when the high priest died. There was a limit on how long one had to be protected. |
