Does anyone know where I can find information on when the temple was destroyed in Jerusalem? Would any of the disciples have been alive? Who was in power there? Thanks Songbirdca |

Steve, I went to the site and I'm a bit confused at the dates. By the looks of it the disciples would have been 100 yrs. or more before they died. Especially Peter if he wrote 2 Peter in 125AD. Am I reading this wrong? Songbirdca aka Laura |

Greetings Laura! The last paragraph of the web site you sent to says: "But while there are questions about some of them, the dates given here (from RH Fuller, A Critical Introduction to the New Testament) reflect the general consensus of modem scholars." Source: http://www.geocities.com/SouthBeach/Port/2470/cat/timeline.html There are many differences of opinion regarding the dating of New Testament books. Alot depends upon the assumptions one begins with. Many modern scholars tend toward a very liberal view of Scripture and reject the notion that many of the books were written early in church history. I take a different view. I personally believe that most, if not all, of the New Testament books were written prior to 70 A.D.! For a really detailed look at the dates of the New Testament books, I would highly recommend Donald Guthrie's, "New Tesament Introduction" published by InterVarisity Press. For a quick look, check out: http://www.apologetics.org/books/historicity.html I hope this helps! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |
