The biblical reason (and plenty of folks attend service for plenty of personal reasons) to attend "Sunday Service" is the same for attendance of any service: Hebrews 10:24 "and let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds," This is evidenced in 1 Corinthians 14:26 "What is the outcome then, brethren? When you assemble, each one has a psalm, has a teaching, has a revelation, has a tongue, has an interpretation. Let all things be done for edification." One definition of edify reads as follows: "to instruct and improve especially in moral and religious knowledge." Additionally, there are consequences if we are not stimulated to love and good deeds, and instead fall by the wayside, as in context in Hebrews 10:26-31 "For if we go on sinning willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, but a terrifying expectation of judgment and THE FURY OF A FIRE WHICH WILL CONSUME THE ADVERSARIES. Anyone who has set aside the Law of Moses dies without mercy on the testimony of two or three witnesses. How much severer punishment do you think he will deserve who has trampled under foot the Son of God, and has regarded as unclean the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know Him who said, "VENGEANCE IS MINE, I WILL REPAY." And again, "THE LORD WILL JUDGE HIS PEOPLE." It is a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God." Does this help? |

FytRobert, I cannot exhort you any more seriously than to digest what information God sees fit to offer you in refference to love! Allow me to offer a suggestion and the words of James 2:8-13 "If, however, you are fulfilling the royal law according to the Scripture, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF," you are doing well. But if you show partiality, you are committing sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. For He who said, "DO NOT COMMIT ADULTERY," also said, "DO NOT COMMIT MURDER." Now if you do not commit adultery, but do commit murder, you have become a transgressor of the law. So speak and so act as those who are to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment will be merciless to one who has shown no mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment." I would also like to suggest that you read (or re-read) the book of 1st John as soon as possible! |
