Hi Nolan, Going back to the subject again. Is Steve also saying that we (men and women in the church) need the pastor's permission to "reach out to others through inviting our neighbors for a Bible study"? I think we have THE LORD'S permission to do that. In fact I think we have His command to reach out to others, whether to invite them to a Bible study or to share the gospel in some other way. So I'm going back again and asking the same old same old. Why would a "believer" need any man's permission or blessing to do just that? |

We need the permission of the church, too, and whomever the church has given the authority, beit the pastor or someone else. Shannon can only have a Bible study with women. What is the reason for the continual asking - Nolan and I have given you clear answers. Are you looking for an answer that pleases you? Even if you do and the church says you must not - you are wrong. Yes we need the Lord's permission, I never said you did not. Steve |

Steve, I guess I'm still asking the question because the answer doesn't seem biblical. Can you give me concrete scripture that says anyone (man or woman) needs an elder's permission to study bible in their home (alone or with others) or to share the gospel with others? It seems to me that you have been indoctrinated into "man's religious structure" of the church rather than God's Word in this area. |

Hebrews 13:17 1 Peter 2:13-3:6 and 1 Peter 5:5 are the passages I cited. It does not say specify the Bible study. But, it does talk about submitting to the leaders. There does need to be order. As wee need to follow the law of the land, we need to follow that of the church we attend. If you think it violates the Law of God, in the latter - move on, if they will not listen. My belief is based on God's Word and the "man's religious structure" is in compliance ... or am I wrong? Steve |

Dear Steve, If you apply the Scriptures that you cited to mean that a person cannot have a Bible study without first asking the permission of a 'leader', then you are stretching the meaning of these verses and adding interpretation to them that just cannot be found within the text! In no way can anyone (except you) glean the interpretation from these verses that you have subscribed to! I believe that you must rethink your position here and reread these verses again. Nolan |
