Interesting. I don't have the time that you have to cite biblical verses, nor am I that familiar with the Bible, but I did come across this verse, Gal. 1:3, which states, Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave Himself for our sins, that He MIGHT deliver us out of this present evil age, according to the WILL of our God and Father, to whom be the glory forevermore. Amen. How do you explain this? |

Greetings Jmr! How do I explain Gal. 1:3-4? The word that the NASB tranlates as 'that...might' is the Greek word 'hopos - Strong's # 3704' is a word that expresses purpose, not doubt. Jesus gave Himself for us our sins, for the purpose of delivering us out of this present evil age. The NASB translation uses "that He might" to express purpose, not doubt. The NIV translates is this way: Gal. 1:3-4 - "Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father," I hope this helps!
