God was sure who he was - in the OT God tells us he is one. Deut 6:4 God (YHWH) descibes himself in Ex 34:5-7 The Jews of OT times believed he is one. ie. one person, who we today would call the Father, and that the Holy Spirit is the Father's power by which he is every where presant. The trinity as a teaching that started to develop in the 2nd century and was completed in the 4th century. This development was influenced by pagan ideas and ever since people have tried to prove the trinity from the Bible. The Bible is clear, it speaks of: 1. God the Father 2. Jesus as the Son of God, never 'God the Son' 3. Holy Spirit is constantly shown to be a power or force that the Father controls. Quote"The trinity as a teaching that started to develop in the 2nd century and was completed in the 4th century. It is His power, in Gen 1:2 it is 'the Spirit of God' that hovered over the waters. Never is the Holy Spirit called 'God the Holy Spirit'. end of Quote. You are right never speaks of "Jesus Christ God the Son" but it clearly speaks of "Christ is God" Even God the Father said that His son is God: Heb 1:8 But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom. Heb 1:9 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated iniquity; therefore God, even thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. Now are we going to believe this or not, if we believed that Christ is God then there is now to God! Our mathematics is different from God's mathematics, many could be one for him. Joh 17:11 ¶ And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. We can be one with Them. God bless, |
