My bible is the amplified version I didnt add to it. God wants to be first in our lives before family material things and anything else. Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness: and all these things will be added unto you. Matt 7:33 kjv In vs25-32 you can read about what God provides for us saying also that all Solomon had couldn't be compared to what God wants us to have (my paraphrase). There is also the scripture that says would you being evil give your child a stone if he asked for bread and how much more does your father love you.Matt 7:9 Dont discount how much God loves you. In John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Who do you love so much that you would give your child? And if you gave your son would you leave the person you gave him for to be a beggar? The blood of Jesus is far beyond anything we could put value on only a fool would try. But if we are to live a life less than the promices of God would you consider He died for nothing. If Jesus lived only barely getting by why did he have a treasurer and why didnt Peter know he was stealing from it. Peter was not the silent type what do you think he would have done? Paul was content because he knew who he was and what his mission was and we can know who we are in Christ too. First by realizing that Jesus is our savior, our alpha and omega, and if you had been the only person in all time to believe in him to call his name Jesus would have gone to the cross anyway. He would have gone into Hell for you. Because he is the first born son of God and god is love. The sinful part would be to deny howmuch God loves you and not accepting his love. The word says the love of money is the root of all evil. Not money otherwise God could not have given Job double what was stolen from him, Abraham, Lot and Isaac great wealth, and Jesus' clothes were divided by the soldiers and bets taken because of their value. God doesn't have a split personallity. He wants us to have much so that we can preach his word to the world but we cant do that if we are living a life of lack.

Imf: Do you personally have monetary wealth, an abundance of materialistic things in your life? You do not have to answer. I have very rarely seen large numbers of Christians who are wealthy. justme |

I will answer you. I am not wealthy but I expect to be soon. Material things were an obsession for me the things we had and things we didnt have took up alot of thoughts. Almost a God like force in my life. Until one day I heard a message that included the scripture that Jesus said that we cannot serve God and money at the same time you either love one and hate the other or you will hold to one and despise the other. Then I figured Jesus is my Lord and Savior so I will give up my desire for material things because I want Him first in my life. Latter I also learned that God wants us to tell the world about Him and you cant do that living from paycheck to paycheck. It is a fact that no one would listen to a beggars message about how to get rich, and a person on a street corner yelling about the return of Jesus would not be received. In order to save lost souls you have to teach them that God is alive and loves them and doesnt want them to go to Hell. It takes money! So wealth is a tool to be used but not a god to be worshiped.

Ifm: I believe you are wealthy now! In James 2:5, "Listen, my beloved brethern: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?" If it is, according to the Bible, that life is but a vapor in time, why is important to be prosperious materialisticly or in material wealth? Jesus said His Kingdom was not of this world. Have you ever been to a third world country? I tell you they do infact tell others about the saving Mercy and saving Grace of the Lord Jesus. More times then not the people are dirt poor! But, they are obediant and TRUST in FAITh the Lords promise to supply their NEEDs. The Lord does do just as He said He would! The Lords example prayer says "Give us our DAILY bread" the example of Gods chosen people being supplied daily with mana is clear the Lord wants us to trust and rely on His ability to supply our needs. Often it is a walk of faith one day or even a meal at a time. I can say I know this by personal testimony. The Amplified Bible is just what it says, Amplified. This is not a word for word translation. So as you read it take into context what the meaning is. Taking it directly from the Greek John 10:10 says quote "The thief not comes except that he may steal and slay and destroy; I came that life they may have, and abundantly may have." Jesus Christ came to seek and save that which was lost. The abundant life is spiritual. In that, abundant life is transmitted into contentment, and peace with God in this physical world. If you took your theology of material abundance to Etheopia, Nigera or any where in Africa, no one would believe you, because Christians are suffering all over the world! Suffering for lack of clean water, food, shelter, clothes and much more. James 2:15-17 is clear as to what better off Christians are to do. This is the very central key to Christianity. How can you believe that the poor can't share the gospel effectively? They do every day, day after day. I stated that I would not debate WOF with you. I have been kind, respectful, and attempted dialogue with you. You have been respectful, but the dilogue is under gurded by the Health and Wealth message of WOF. I believe with what I've said and your responses, that there such a wide gap in what we understand about abundant life, we have a stalemate. I respectfully bow out, of continuing this debate. I agree to disagree. What I see is not being able to produce any change in thinking. I would challenge you to look very closely as to whom the wealthy are in WOF. Rarely is it the avrage attender. Always you will find the teachers and preachers living far above those they teach. Look at Jesus, He served those around Him. Jesus washed others feet, Jesus was the servant Christ, and we are to follow His example. Jesus was poor in worldy goods and lived quite a simple life style. With kindness and Christian concern, is it possible you have misunderstood the meaning of an abundant life in Christ Jesus? I do know we see the gospel from totally different perspectives. Think about what I've said and pray to have the real truth revealed to you. Peace. justme |
