inmyheart, I am so comforted by your response. It has so saddend me, as one who believes totally in the ministry of the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into all truth, when other believers try to influence truth seekers to avoid teachings they disagree with. They encourage others to just take their word for it that these teachings are unscriptural, and heretic creating fear in them. Or to read books which talk 'about' the teachings rather than imparting to the seekers to search the scriptures, compare understanding and then ask the Holy Spirit for the revealed spiritual truth. Thank you for your courage to speak the truth here. Purhaps some will begin to reason scripture more and allow the Spirit of God to do the rest. After all, He is the only one who can change the heart of man. God bless |

Just take their word for it? gracefull: You write: "They encourage others to just take their word for it that these teachings are unscriptural, and heretic creating fear in them." Just take their word for it? Anyone with an understanding of basic Bible teaching would know WOF teachings are unscriptural merely by reading them in the words of the teachers themselves. In my postings regarding Copeland, Meyer, Hinn, etc., their very words are quoted. Then each quote is footnoted giving the name of the article, book or TV program in which Copeland and others spoke those words. Before you make a statement like the one above, you need to look at the quotes and footnotes. If you did, then you would see that I am not encouraging others just to take my word for it. In light of the fact of the inclusion of footnoted quotes in the very words of WOF teachers, your accusation is false and unfounded. What about you? Do you encourage others to just take your word? I have seen little or no evidence to support your defense of WOF leaders. You write: "They encourage others . . . to read books which talk 'about' the teachings rather than imparting to the seekers to search the scriptures, compare understanding and then ask the Holy Spirit for the revealed spiritual truth." Wrong. The recommended books do indeed encourage seekers to search the scriptures, compare understanding and then ask the Holy Spirit for the revealed spiritual truth." You write: "Purhaps some will begin to reason scripture more and allow the Spirit of God to do the rest." If people relied upon the Scriptures, the Holy Spirit and reason, they wouldn't fall for WOF teaching to begin with. Radioman2 |

Hi Radioman2 QUOTE What about you? Do you encourage others to just take your word? I have seen little or no evidence to support your defense of WOF leaders.END QUOTE The EVIDENCE is in the fact that they are walking by faith... and bringing forth fruit! That's why they are so visible! ;-))) The TBN Network in itself is a TESTIMONY in the face of the world!!! They may not dress right in the eyes of many, but WOW! Does the testimony of their faith ever resound from mountain tops the world over!!! Glory to GOD! God is soooooo GOOD! |

Greetings Earnest, In the spirit of good will I'll allow that you're a "fan" of TBN. I can't doubt your sincerity or motive in that. We definitely have an appeal from the Apostle Paul in Phillipians 1:15-19 speaking to this very situation: "Some, to be sure, are preaching Christ even from envy and strife, but some also from good will; the latter do it out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel; the former proclaim Christ out of selfish ambition rather than from pure motives, thinking to cause me distress in my imprisonment. What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is proclaimed; and in this I rejoice." In my studied opinion, I believe the majority of TBN to be a bastion of theological error, promoting "pomp and circumstance" over substance. I don't say this lightly, either. I've watched Benny Hinn, Rod Parsley, Creflo Dollar, Kenneth Copeland, Robert Tilton, and Jesse Duplantis to name a few. What they are systematically purveying is akin to "spiritual junk food" as opposed to a solid, balanced diet. While it may be tasty and filling, it is not ,in the long run healthy! Pauls warning in 2 Timothy 4:3-5 stands: "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry." Hi BradK, Thanks for speaking in love ;-) Is it really junkfood? I think the presentation can be entertaining. I don't subscribe to all persons on the Network in as much as you would not subscribe to everything that any of your respected peers would have to say. Maybe the problem is that on TBN the Christian life may appear to be a 'walk in the park', and the truth is that all growth comes through struggle and direct relationship with God. I think that would be the biggest problem. But if you are talking about results, ...fruit and works, I don't think you have anything on them. At least if you do, it would be good for public testimony to edify the brethren. Lots of people grouse about televangelists... but televangelism in and of itself is an excellent tool. If a particular individual is "off" then pray. If the preaching is generally not to your liking... then do something about it. Go on t.v. yourself, or get others on. Radio will never have the impact that the television has. |

Greetings Earnest! I have heard various TV preachers teach for years that God has a principle of seedtime and harvest. They would say that if I sent them 10 dollars, God would send me a 100 dollars. I have often wondered, if this is true, why don't they just send me 10 dollars! ;-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim, send me a ten dollar bill and I will send you a check for a hundred dollars written in disappearing ink on the bank of Afghanistan. Send it as many times as your seed-time-and-harvest budget will allow. :-) --Hank

Earnest, out of sheer generosity, I'll extend the offer to you as well! Send me ten bucks every chance you get and I'll send you the same bogus hundred dollar check that I promised to send Tim. Just send it to me in care of the Lockman Foundation. I'm confident that they will forward at least half of it to me. :-) They are entitled to a small handling charge, you see. --Hank

Alas! What I hear you saying to me is, "Don't quit your day job to go into the seedtime and harvest business!" Thanks. Good advice. You're probably right :-) --Hank
