1 | Why make endless quotes? | Bible general Archive 1 | justme | 65092
Why do some quote endlessly from authors when a reference and summary would be just as acceptable? Then list the reference information. I find these long, and I do mean long, quotes cause me to skip over the information and move on to something else. We all can quote by the yard, but making a summary takes some thought and work. To me this represents more effort. Do you think this is worth attempting to try?
2 | Why make endless quotes? | Bible general Archive 1 | Hank | 65214
Hello, justme. In the early days of the forum there was a sort of game being played with study Bibles that reminded one of a couple of kids saying to one another, "My dad can beat up your dad." In forum jargon it amounted to, "My study Bible is better than your study Bible." Nearly everyone was quoting from his study Bible. One poster quoted from five study Bibles in a single post. I think the archives must contain just about every word that Ryrie and MacArthur ever wrote :-). I happen to have already owned both these study Bibles, paid good money for them, and now and then still find myself wishing that I'd waited. I could have got the information free during the forum's "Golden Age of Study Bibles." --Hank
