1 | Why do people lose interest and leave? | Bible general Archive 1 | Morant61 | 21191 | ||
Greetings Ed! I think that there would be two primary benefits to authoring some studies either on whole books or major passages. 1) We would be opening up passages that aren't being discussed. 2) We would be providing insights to passages that others can refer to as needed. I have tried to do this a few times, but not enough. Rather than a debate, maybe someone has an insight into a particular passage that they would be willing to post. Others could respond or simply file it away for future reference! It would be worth a shot! Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim I have always felt the general none specific questions are the ones that lead to problems. I agree if each question and each response was geared to a particular verse it would probably eliminate most of this confusion. However that would severely impact new Christians that have no idea what verse or even book they are asking about. What would we do with those that ask is divorce okay and etc? Remember the forum is driven as much by newcomer questions as it is by someone examining a book. How do we limit questions to just the books being examined. EdB |

Greetings Ed! I wouldn't limit the questions at all! I would just say that some of the older members should attempt some "quality" posts. There is still a place for newcomers to ask questions, even abouts Cain's wife! :-) Your Brother in Christ, Tim Moran |

Tim Rather than assigning books and such why not just start at the beginning of Genesis and go through the bible verse by verse chapter by chapter, book by book until we get to the end. Some verses/chapters would be nothing more than saying meaning is obvious or no comment needed. EdB |

Contrary View .................................. Dear EdB, I think that it would be better for several different leaders on the Forum to each be going through books simultaneously rather than just start at Genesis 1:1. For one thing, I think that we would cover more ground, more quickly. Secondly, I think that would help keep the forum as a whole more balanced between focusing on the OT and NT, as well as different types of books (history, prophecy, poetry, etc.). Thirdly, I think that there would be more of a unified voice in the commentaries if there was only one person primarily responsible for each book. Of course everyone would be able to join in to discuss things, but the overall outlook would at least have some consistency. Lastly, I think that it would be better for accountablility. If a job is the responsibility of "everyone", then it often ends up being accomplished by "no one" because "each one" thinks "someone else" is going to do it. |

Sir Pent Tim has started a study in 1 Peter, let's see how it goes. I just don't think this can be done in a orderly meaningful basis. However I have been wrong before, though only once :-) EdB |
