1 | What is this "open door?" | Rev 4:1 | Mommapbs | 30268
God has impressed my mind with this verse of Scripture from Rev 3:8 "Behold, I have set before you an open door . . ." Is this the same open door in Rev 4:1? What is this "open door?"
2 | What is this "open door?" | Rev 4:1 | Ray | 30309
Hi Mommapbs, We learn of the door first in John 10:1 where Jesus says, "Truly, truly, I say to you, he who does not enter by the door into the fold of the sheep, but climbs up some other way, he is a thief and a robber." In order to show contrast to this robber may I offer for your consideration the God/Man whose says in verse 7, "Truly, truly, I/ say to you, I am the door of the sheep." This would introduce the idea of capitalizing in verse 2, "But He who enters by the door is a shepherd of the sheep." And He calls His sheep by name, and the sheep follow Him because they know His voice. Verse 9 says, "(I) am the dooor;" Capitals and parenthesis mine. Verse 14, "I am the good shepherd; and I know My own, and My own know (Me)." Revelation 3:19, "Those whom I/ love, I reprove and discipline; be zealous therefore, and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears (My) voice and opens the door,..." John 10:16, "...and they shall hear (My) voice; and they shall become one flock with one shepherd." Besides going to the door and hearing His voice, we can learn to know the (One) who is true. Revelation 3:7, "(He) who is holy, who is true,"... [who has, who opens, who shuts and no one opens.] Revelation 4:8, "Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God, the (Almighty)," [who was, who is, who is to come] Revelation 6:10, "...How long, O (Lord), holy and true,..." Contrast John 17:3, "And this is eternal life, that they may know Thee, the only true (God), and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent." Contrast 1 John 5:20, "...in order that we might know (Him) who is true, and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God/ and eternal life." Revelation 15:3, "...O Lord God, the Almighty; Righteous and true are (Thy) ways, Thou King of the nations." This King is the God/Man who came to earth for us. Revelation 15:4, "Who will not fear, O Lord, and glorify Thy name? For Thou alone art holy; For all the naions will come and worship before Thee/, For Thy righteous acts have been revealed." His judgments are true, also, but that is another thread. Praise the Lord, and thanks for your question. Later, Ray |

3 | What is this "open door?" | Rev 4:1 | Mommapbs | 30376
Greetings Nolan, Emmaus and Ray! Thank you for your insight. I am still chewing on this. After looking up some additional references (Matthew 24: 33-4; Matthew 25:10; John 10:9) I am getting a different view of this "Door!" I am reminded of the door on the Ark - God shut that one, will this door be shut too? How long will it be open? Thinking about the reference in Rev 3:20 to the door of our heart (which is closed until we choose to open it) and contrasting it to the heart of God which is OPEN, (God is patient , not wanting anyone to perish 2Peter3:9) is also thought provoking. (Further shows that we are createdin His likeness - each of us have a "door" of desire or a "will.") Yes, I know I'm stretching WAY out there! But this is how God seems to lead me along - with "object lessons"! Not being a Greek scholar limits my exploration, but having the Spirit of Christ I believe it is necessary for me to continue to seek until the truths the Lord wants me to know are revealed! (And I pursue His Truth with the full knowlege that this may not be until I get to Heaven, then of course it won't matter!)Blessings to you! Mommapbs |

4 | What is this "open door?" | Rev 4:1 | Ray | 30414
Hi Mommapbs, I'm glad that we could help you in your meditating. It sounds like you've done some good "chewing" on the Bread of life. I wonder if the "door" should be capitalized, however, because John 10:6 says, "This figure of speech Jesus spoke to them..." The door and the good shepherd were figures of speech yet (He) goes *before them, just as your Matthew 25 reference leads us to verse 32, "And all the nations will be gathered *before (Him).
