1 | Hereing from God | 1 John 3:22 | fwiaskycap | 213147
Well all through scripture give accounts on where God spoke to people in dreams, Old Testament and New Testament. Show me where in the Bible God said, I will no longer speak to you through dreams, or through somebody else, or in an audible voice. You know to some He gave gifts, some as prophets, some as teachers, and so on. I know we can agree on this one thing, Christ came in the flesh! Lord be magnified!!

Hello James, It is not my intent to be difficult or engage in an ongoing debate on this matter. However, our disagreement is about sola scriptura. This is a foundational doctrine of Historic Christianity! Yet, you continue to substantiate nothing. Not a shred of scriptural evidence have you provided. None! Vague references don't prove anything! The burden of proof is clearly on you to support your claim, not on I to disprove! There is not one single verse where God is teaching and or prescribing that dreams, visions, and audible communication from Him are to be for all people at all times! Not one! Proof to the contrary...??? Here are a several OT and NT verses that teach and proclaim the authority of the written Word. Josh 1:8- "This book of the law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. Ps 119:9- How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Your word. Ps 119:11- Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You. Ps 119:116- Sustain me according to Your word, that I may live; And do not let me be ashamed of my hope. Ps 119:148 - My eyes anticipate the night watches, That I may meditate on Your word. Ps 119:160 - The sum of Your word is truth, And every one of Your righteous ordinances is everlasting. Matt. 4:4-10- Jesus counters satan through the reference to and quotation of the written Word of God. He thereby proclaims it's authority! John 17:17 "Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth." Nothing said about dreams, visions, or audible communication. The Word and Jesus are both truth; Rom 10:17- "So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ" 2 Tim 3:16-17 - "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work." No mention that dreams, visions or audible communications from God hold any comparable or similar authority for the believer; Heb 4:12- "For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." The Word of God is living and active... Jude 1:3- "Beloved, while I was making every effort to write you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all handed down to the saints." The Canon of scripture is complete. No further revelation is necessary or authoritative! Speaking the Truth in Love, BradK |

Hello to you BradK Iam posting this to you because you are the one having this conversation with James. After reading all of this thread Iam not seeing where James said that when God spoke to him he (now) has a message to the Body of Christ. He just said God spoke to him. Did he question the authority of the written word? These were his words. I'm just saying that, for me, He gave me an experience to hear his voice, 'it sounded like thunder', and also maybe an angel. Also in looking at all of the scriptures about this subject. There are not any scriptures that are saying that anything that a (prophet or a dreamer) will say to us in this (End Time) should be recorded in a (New Canon). of scripture. This scripture is telling us how we are to be treating the prophet or the dreamer. But it is only saying (if ) they are saying something that will lead the people away from God. Deut. 13 1--- (If) there arise among you a prophet, (or a dreamer of dreams,) and giveth thee a sign or a wonder, 2--- And the sign or the wonder come to pass, whereof he spake unto thee, (saying, Let us go after other gods,) which thou hast not known, and let us serve them; 3--- (Thou shalt not hearken unto the words of that) prophet, or that (dreamer of dreams:) (for the LORD your God proveth you, to know whether ye love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4--- Ye shall walk after the LORD your God, and fear him, and keep his commandments, and obey his voice, and ye shall serve him, and cleave unto him. 5--- (And) that prophet, or (that dreamer of dreams,) (shall be put to death; because he hath spoken to turn you away from the LORD your God,) which brought you out of the land of Egypt, and redeemed you out of the house of bondage, (to thrust thee out of the way which the LORD thy God commanded thee to walk in.) So shalt thou put the evil away from the midst of thee. You are saying "There is not one single verse where God is teaching and or prescribing that dreams, visions, and audible communication from Him are to be for all people at all times!" This is being a prophesy about the (end times) Joel 2:28 And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, (your old men shall dream dreams,) your young men shall see visions: This is being said again because we are (now in) the (last days.) Are we not? Acts 2:17 And it shall come to pass in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of my Spirit upon all flesh: and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, (and your old men shall dream dreams:) Are we supposed to be beleaving that in (the end times) when these prophesys visions dreams are taking place that they are not going to be spoken to the Body? And as we have been told in Deut. we have been given a way for the judging of them to be taking place. Speaking the Truth in Love, KcabmI4 |
