You who are well versed in these things, tell me what some of these TV preachers and teachers mean by "the anointing" or "the divine anointing." What exactly are they talking about? Is there solid scriptural foundation for being "anointed" in our time? --Hank
2 | What is "the anointing"? | 1 John 2:20 | Searcher56 | 28254
Scripture ... 2 Co 1:21; Heb 1:9; Jam 5:14; 1 Jo 2:20, 27 ... Hank, Happy New Year. Here are soem passages that deal with our annointing. I am not sure what passage the TV preachers and teachers use, if any. I've heard them use this phrase and I believe they are out of line with the Bible. If you dare, ask them what they mean. Then apply Acts 17:11. Searcher |

4 | Should a preacher be revered | 1 John 2:20 | Aquadisk | 165452
The dictionary defines "revered" as: "To regard with awe, deference, and devotion." It is a really difficult question to answer with that word in it, but the answer is no. You revere God, for everything good comes from heaven. In regards to preacheres, read this verse. 1 Thessalonians 5:12 Now we ask you, brothers, to give recognition to those who labor among you and lead you in the Lord and admonish you, and to esteem them very highly in love because of their work. Notice, it doesn't say, "Put those who labor among you up on a pedestal and praise them and devote yourself to them." You are to recognize them for being God's faithful tool, but in no way worship them as anything more than human. Check out this verse too: 1 Timothy 5:17 The elders who are good leaders should be considered worthy of an ample honorarium, especially those who work hard at preaching and teaching. |
