God's day to you, nohunt, Tim would do a better job in this, but I'll give my notes. There is only the word stumble here, tho some translations say stumble or fall. In the Greek it is ... ou (never) me (not) ptaisete (2 PAAS)(stumble) pote (once) We could read it ... no not once will you stumble. (The double negative is first). It is eternal security. We will sin (I think about 1 John), yet we will not be in the habit of sin. Stumble (ptaio)(Strong's 4417) means literally to loose one's footing and so to fall, stumble or “to be tripped up”. To lose one’s footing. Romans 11:11 has stumble and fall ... "I say then, they did not stumble so as to fall" Fall (pipto) (Strong's 4098) to descend from a higher place to a lower ... ptaio is a form of pipto. Searcher |
