1 | Who and what is this vers about? | Deut 32:30 | Joanne | 15473 | ||
Can anyone shed some light on who is being spoken of here and in what context? Is it the Isrealites and the power one or two have because of God? What does it mean that "their rock had sold them" and that is why they were able to do this? What is the whole verse referring to? Thanks for you feedback! |

Greetings Joanne! Here is a little explanation on Deut. 32:30.. "Often the phrase latter end is understood as “glorious future”; here it speaks of “ruinous future” for the rebellious Israelites. Unless their Rock had sold them: God’s protection of His people was so certain that their conquest by enemies could occur only if it were He who gave them over." (The Nelson NKJV Study Bible) "32:28-33 The enemies of Israel, who were as wicked as Sodom and Gomorrah (Hab 1:12-17), could be used to execute God’s judgment. Victory was inevitable when God fought on behalf of His people, but defeat was certain when “their Rock,” YAHWEH, withdrew, leaving them to fall to their enemies. These enemies would receive their judgment too, however (vv. 34-43), and Israel would be vindicated (rather than judged, as in v. 36)." (The Believer's Study Bible) I hope this helps! Nolan |
