1 | will we die if we charge interest? | Deut 23:20 | Timothy Paul | 47066
Ezekiel 18:8,13,17 warn against charging interest. How does this apply to the banking industry? I think not, but what are the differences? What about a small payday loan for a co-worker?
2 | will we die if we charge interest? | Deut 23:20 | New Creature | 47076
Basically a Christian brother or sister is not to charge interest to another Christian brother or sister. We are not to get rich or make a profit off of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Banks are non-Christian organizations, and we cannot expect secular institutions to follow Bibical principles. The Bible principles are written as a guide to believers, not unbelievers. |

Furthermore, you should loan to other Christians in order that their basic needs be met. The only examples of God's people borrowing money are poor people and they are only borrowing money to meet their basic needs. That is food, shelter, clothing, medical support. If a fellow christian needs a payday loan, I would shy away from that if you believe the individual does not need it for the bare essentials. Maybe the person just needs to manage their money better.
4 | will we die if we charge interest? | Deut 23:20 | New Creature | 50570
I agree, we have to separate needs, such as food, clothing, shelter, from wants. 1 John 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels [of compassion] from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth. and also: James 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, 16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be [ye] warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what [doth it] profit? |
