AMPLIFIED 2015 | Deuteronomy 23:20 "You may charge interest to a foreigner, but to your fellow Israelite you shall not charge interest, so that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you undertake in the land which you are about to enter to possess. |
Bible Question: Ezekiel 18:8,13,17 warn against charging interest. How does this apply to the banking industry? I think not, but what are the differences? What about a small payday loan for a co-worker? |
Bible Answer: Basically a Christian brother or sister is not to charge interest to another Christian brother or sister. We are not to get rich or make a profit off of our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Banks are non-Christian organizations, and we cannot expect secular institutions to follow Bibical principles. The Bible principles are written as a guide to believers, not unbelievers. |
