1 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | justme | 63698
In James 5:14 to 16. In these verses Elders are to be praying and anointing the sick, and prayers offered. There in verse 16 we are to confess our sins to one another. I think the anointing with oil is an act of obedience. Why have many pastors and elders neglected these instructions? Would not these instructions, for the churches sick, be much like an ordiance of baptism or the Lords Supper? I do not think these verses say the person will be healed for sure, but that if sin brought on the sickness the sins will be forgiven. Any one have some thoughts on this? justme |

2 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63699
justme, I think the anointing with oil is an act of faith as in the following scriptures: Acts 5:15 so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid them on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them. Mark 6:56 Wherever He entered, into villages, cities, or the country, they laid the sick in the marketplaces, and begged Him that they might just touch the hem of His garment. And as many as touched Him were made well. I think some pastors may feel that it is not right to get peoples hopes up and their loved ones should die anyway. Well, I feel that we should come to God in faith and leave it up to Him to heal or not: Jonah 3:8But let man and beast be covered with sackcloth, and cry mightily to God; yes, let every one turn from his evil way and from the violence that is in his hands. 9Who can tell if God will turn and relent, and turn away from His fierce anger, so that we may not perish? 3 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | justme | 63708
Pastor Glenn: Having been a pastor and anointing the sick with oil, I know the fears one can feel. I never felt it was to heal the person. The purpose is bring others attention to the need of the ill person and to help in the person to confess sin. However, inspite of all this I have seen very sick peoples lives extended for a much longer period of time to restore family issues. I have seen prostrate cancer change and the cancer groth slow to the doctors amazement. This is an act of obedience. Even if the person is totally healed, it is only bor a brief time. We all will die it is just a matter of time. My question to you is have you ever anointed any one? If not, then why not? If you have tellme about it, please. God bless. justme |

4 | Elders anointing sick with oil. | James 5:14 | Pastor Glenn | 63712
justme, About two years ago I anointed and prayed for my sister in-law after she had a severe stroke. She was uncontious and did not wake while I was there. She is now bound to a wheelchair and her daughter has moved her away to take care of her in another state. This past December I rushed from work to the hospital to anoint and pray for an elderly woman member of my church. But I was too late. As I arrived, her son was on his way towards his car. He informed me that she had just past away. Her's was the only funeral that I have performed so far after only one year as pastor. I am determined to pray, fast, and anoint the sick while exhibiting faith on God to give them a full recovery. I believe that God wants me to have faith first and formost, then the sick will have less reason to doubt. It is good to lead them in death bed confession of sin. But their confession and conversion is the greatest miracle that they can recieve. If we can have the faith for the greater thing (salvation), then why not for the smaller thing (healing) also? Anointing with oil may be an act of obedience, but it shows faith to obey God. Habakkuk 2:4 "Behold the proud, His soul is not upright in him; But the just shall live by his faith. Romans 1:17 For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, "The just shall live by faith." Galatians 3:11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for "the just shall live by faith." Hebrews 10:38 Now the just shall live by faith; But if anyone draws back, My soul has no pleasure in him." Heb 11:6But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. God Bless, Pastor Glenn |

Pastor Glenn: You are blessed. I did almost 130 furnals in 9 years! I did about 10 weddings. I felt with the dead you know they will stay put. I never did a funeral with out having tears of compassion for the grieving. Christians who deney grieving often have long term depression, Many feel it is not Christian to grieve. Which we know it just is not so. The childrens funerals are as difficult as it got for me. I pray Blessings on your ministry. justme |

justme, I was one that tried to be strong and not grieve too much when my father died years ago. And it did lead to mild depression, but God brought me through it. Thanks for your prayers, Pastor Glenn |
