1 | Is it God speaking?? | James 1:5 | Lissamz | 213317 | ||
Thank You so much. I do need to look up, because I am well aware of my inadequacies. And I will begin to pray for the Lord to increase my faith. I just wanted to know if I was having a spiritual problem, because of others around me. I know the answer lies within Christ and the Word, and the Holy Spirit at work within me. I will continue to "press in" because I truly love the Lord. Blessing and peace be multiplied towards you, DocTrinsograce |

Dear Lissamz, I believe it was Corrie Ten Boom who said, "Look within, be depressed; look without, be distressed; look above, be at rest." By the way, the old divines used to call this "discursive meditation" -- in addition to, but different from "systematic meditation." It is the idea of developing a habit of preaching the Word to yourself. The interesting thing about it, is that it can be triggered by various experiences around you. If you see a man carrying something heavy, you think "I once was under the burden of sin, but the Lord Jesus took upon Himself my sin!" When you see people entering the subway through the turn-styles, you think "Lord, I earnestly desire to enter the narrow way." When you see a house being built, you think, "The wise man builds his house upon the rock! The Lord is my sure foundation!" When you are feeling discouraged, you think "God is light and in Him is no darkness at all! This I know, and the Lord has given me this that my joy -- a joy that is independent of circumstance and simple emotion -- may be full and complete!" When you are happy, you think, "Eye hasn't seen, nor ear heard, nor has any man imagined what God has prepared for His own!" If you think about it, there are thousands of ways every day to do this! I will more to you later today, Deo volente. In Him, Doc |
