1 | can a soul that has died, be reposed? | Heb 9:27 | teragram123 | 65446 | ||
How can a soul that has died, be reposed? This is a direct quote from the Baltimore Cathechism... “Mass can be frequently offered for the repose of a soul. There are special Requiem Masses for the day of the funeral, the thirtieth day after death or burial, and the anniversary of the death of burial. On All Souls’ Day, November 2, Masses are offered for all the souls in purgatory... Most indulgences granted by the Church are applicable to the poor souls in purgatory. A plenary indulgence can be gained by the celebration of Mass at a privileged altar. This indulgence can be applied only to the soul in purgatory for whom the Mass is offered. All Masses celebrated at any altar on All Souls;’ Day, and during it‘s octave, and during the Forty Hour’s Devotion enjoy the same privilege as those offered on a privileged altar, but only in favor of the soul for whom the Mass is said” Halloween got it's so-called "Christian" roots from this practice. How does the such a unBiblical belief continue to stand? The Bible celebrates no such a day as all souls... Heb 9:27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: 2 Cor 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad. |

I believe that the catechism is nothing but "interpretation" composed by men. Once a person dies, as you cited, a soul's fate is sealed, "then cometh judgment". Indulgences paid by people is one of the ways the "universal" church became as wealthy as it is, taking advantage of people, teaching them that they could pay money to saved a lost loved ones' soul. Where is this teaching in the bible? Keep the faith, teragram123! |
