1 | Can we worship outside of our community? | Heb 10:25 | EdB | 29736
Yes differently you want a Bible believing but I think there are people that travel for all the wrong reasons. They travel to follow a pastor, friends etc. I know a church that brags that it has people from 50 miles away. While that may certainly attest to good teaching, it may also be the result of heresy and false teaching that tickles the ear and draws many today. In the case of this church the people that travel that far are passing no less than 10 excellent churches. The real problem comes with children when you live so far from the church most people only participate in Sunday services and their children don’t get plugged in or feel a part of the group since they probably attend different schools, which means different friends, teachers, and problems. I have seen many faithful families attend this church traveling great distances and in almost all the cases they had problems with their children, mainly because they never got plugged in. Also when a crisis hit the family it was very hard for many church members to travel to their home to insure meals were prepared, baby sitting was done and such. When everything was fine the travel wasn’t a problem but when things went bad the travel compounded the problems. Had they attended their local church many of these problems would have been dealt with. I’m an advocate of attending a church near your home. That way you make friends you can have a relationship with. You can insure that needs are being met like meals being prepared if someone is in the hospital, baby sitting can be done by fellow Christians, maybe taking someone to the hospital (can’t drive or too old), also when we get older many times our license is taken and we need help getting to grocery stores and such. All of these things are usually taken care of by a local church. EdB |

2 | Can we worship outside of our community? | Heb 10:25 | Belmaree | 29744
I am hearing and listening and you are speaking well of what the local church and being in a local church is to be. We have a study group that meets in our home and they are the ones I depend upon if trouble/crisis arises. We so need a local church here in Westville, Indiana that is Bible believing, Christ centered and teaching. I have seen too what you say about the people that leave to follow a pastor or leave because they just don't like the pastor! We stumble over blades of grass at times. The core problem with me is finding a Christ focused church in our community. There are none. So we have ventured out to a town nearby that is right on track. I am hoping that God will lead us to start a group of believers meeting every week to Praise the Lord, receive a teaching, worship God and commune with other believers. The will of God is always to uplift Jesus Christ! That would be unique in this community. The town consists of a Lutheran, Methodist, Baptist and Catholic church. Not one of them preaches Jesus Christ but preaches there own doctrine. Belmaree |

3 | What are your church expectations? | Heb 10:25 | charis | 29755
Dear Belmaree, Greetings in the name of Jesus! Friend, did it ever occur to you that one of your local group (maybe even YOU!) might be called to shepherd your local gathering? The Bible does not require that a shepherd be a graduate from a Bible college or seminary. The requirements for elder are written in the "Pastoral Letters" to Timothy and Titus. You might say that none of you meet all the standards written there, but I can tell you that formal religious education or certificates of ordination do not guarantee a person perfection before God. Our Lord desires a heart toward Him more than scholarship. "For where two or three have gathered together in My name, I am there in their midst." Matthew 18:20 NASB. If indeed those in your community are seeking a local church, God WILL provide. The problem is what are your 'expectations' of church? A name, an institution, 'professional' guidance and counsel? Or fellowship, commitment, spiritual guidance and the counsel of God? Blessings upon you and your fellows! In Christ Jesus, charis |

4 | What are your church expectations? | Heb 10:25 | Belmaree | 29764
Dear Charis, God is just so amazing. Yes, it is a hope that a church will begin here, in our home! God has not removed an aching heart for the people in this area. I absolutely agree that Our Lord desire a heart bent towards Him over any worldly degree or education! I also believe that God is leading us to be a church. This summer we are offering three days to the community to come and find Jesus and to also revive the believers. We hope a church will form from that. I am not sure if this is backwards...I mean do you need a church first to offer Salvation and revival? You pose a very good question as to what my expectations of a church are to be. I know what it is God has laid on my heart and I have seen plenty of false churches and teachings and rule of man's doctrine. But what I have seen most of all is the Truth in God's Word and what God has shown me thru scriptures is pretty simple and that is to lift up Jesus Christ in teaching, praise and worship. Prophesy is permisable and speaking in tongues if interpretation is also present. Music is a delight to the Lord as well as acts of mercy and kindness. That's about all I know. I do believe, like you said, God WILL provide...he surely is! Thanks and a multitude of blessing upon you and yours too! Belmaree |

5 | What are your church expectations? | Heb 10:25 | charis | 29766
Dear Belmaree, Greetings in the name of Jesus! May the Lord of Provision, Jehovah-jireh lead your path to the desire of your heart. I read your personal profile after posting to you and saw that you are in Valparaiso, near Green Acres! Well, I am in Yokohama, near Tokyo, and was in a similar situation 15 years ago. My community has about 8 million people, but none of the churches in the area were preaching the Gospel, but instead an 'agenda.' After much searching, my (pregnant) wife, 3 year old daughter and I started meeting in our living room. God has been faithful to make us into a local expression of the body of Christ. I am certain that He will guide you to a similar blessing. I have a Daytimer notebook with all my studies and sermon outlines. Page one has this written: "For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel--these are the eyes of the LORD which range to and fro throughout the earth." Zecheriah 4:10 NASB, and "But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you." Matthew 6:33 NASB. Blessings and joy in Christ Jesus, charis |

6 | What are your church expectations? | Heb 10:25 | Belmaree | 29772
Charis! What encouragement and hope you have given me! Thank you for the Zecheriah and the Matthew scripture! That is awesome!!! For sure righteousness outweighs anything my flesh or this world tries to convince me of! Truely amazing too is how we are One in Christ, and it has little to do with geography! I am astonished you are in Japan and I am in US. What a wonderful God we have! He never ceases to bring joy to me every single day. God bless you! I am revived and filled with joy once again. Joy and peace be yours in Christ. Belmaree |
