1 | Can we worship outside of our community? | Heb 10:25 | Belmaree | 29672
Yes, it has always been a battle to keep the church pure, even from the very beginning. I didn't state myself very well. The problem I have seen here is people insisting that we be in a local church NO MATTER WHAT...drives me crazy! I was looking for biblical truth to support their views and of course have come up empty.
2 | Can we worship outside of our community? | Heb 10:25 | Hank | 29679
Belmaree, perhaps I played too strong the pedant with you on the good-old-days-of-the-church thing and thus diverted attention from your main concern. I think those who teach the doctrine of local church membership do so without the blessings of Scripture. My wife and I left a congregation that was much nearer our home in order to worship in a Christ-centered, Bible-teaching congregation of believers. We are fortunute to have modern means of transportation that made this change less challenging geographically than if we had to mount a camel or a donkey! What is considered local today would have been several Sabbath days' journeys in bygone days. But if it came to it, I'd rather pick up and move closer to a church where Christ and the Bible were exalted than to attend one, no matter how local, in which they weren't. --Hank
3 | Can we worship outside of our community? | Heb 10:25 | Belmaree | 29693
Yes, I think too that there is more concern for membership numbers, money, prestige etc in the church and personally I have seen the mainline denominations fall head long into the trap of false teaching and wrong thinking. I agree that it would be better to sell our home and move nearer a Christ Centered, Bible teaching church than to go without! How blessed we are to be able to travel as we do. Is it unreasonable to think that the early believers met because the Lord was with them and it didn't matter where they were in terms of geography? Wouldn't it be better to meet in your own home than to gather in a place that does not know the Lord Jesus Christ? Praise be to God we know the answer to that one! Belmaree |

Belmaree, you've got it right! 'Tis better to meet in a barn with Jesus than in a cathedral without Him. Grace and peace to you. --Hank
