Hi, Taleb (and Tim Moran and Ken John, too) - The question does have whiskers by now, having beem posted on 4/17/01, exactly two weeks after I registered as a Forum user. Although it attracted little attention back then, I'm pleased to see it resurrected and some wonderful answers posted to it. All three of you responded marvelously and I thank you all for your interest in the question and for your well-tempered biblically oriented answers. ..... For what it's worth: I'm on course to read through the Bible during this year and have chosen the NASB text and Ryrie's Study Bible. Why Ryrie? His notes are the soul of brevity, supplying enough annotation to help the reader enormoously but not enough to lead him far from the text itself. I think that Charles Ryrie gives sound exegetical help by and large, even though I don't see eye to eye with him on every teeny point. [When I disagree with him, I feel a trifle sorrowful that he was not as enlightened as I on that particular point and move on :-) ] ....... Again, thanks to all of you for fine inputs. ..... I love your confession, Taleb, about making a New Year's resolution to make no resolutions -- and having the tenacity to follow through! --Hank | ||||||
