1 | It isn't right to eat pig is it? | 1 Tim 4:4 | EdB | 104318
wordoer Since you keep Leviticus 11 I also assume you keep the rest of Leviticus. You have tassels on your robe. You offer atonement for your wife after childbirth and you do not touch your wife and make her leave the house when she has her period. You keep all the feasts and especially the year of Jubilee. You have two fridges one for dairy and one for meat, you never eat cheese burgers, you never wear blended clothing, and you pay your tithe. If not, why do you keep part of the law but not all of it? 2 | It isn't right to eat pig is it? | 1 Tim 4:4 | joel k | 104320
Jesus said " it is not what a man puts into his mouth that defiles him, it is what comes out of his mouth. Think about how many millions of pounds of pork are eaten daily around the world ... if it were condeming to us, God would have included it in His commandments. For He knows the end before the begining. I believe the issues Moses had with pork related to the fact that they didn't use the curring processes like we do today, and since pigs root in the mud and manure, many people would become ill or even die from the tainted meats that were not cured. 3 | It isn't right to eat pig is it? | 1 Tim 4:4 | kalos | 104330
I am not advocating that we keep the dietary laws of the OT. I merely wish to point out a couple of things. You write: "if it were condeming to us, God would have included it in His commandments." Hello? God did include it in His commandments. You write: "I believe the issues Moses had with pork..." Moses didn't have "issues" with pork. Moses merely wrote down the Law with its commandments as it was given to him by God. Also, I cannot agree that the primary purpose of the laws prohibiting the eating of pork and certain other foods is because of health considerations. Primarily, the dietary laws were given to emphasize that Israel was to be separate from the nations around them. --kalos |
