Who is the man of lawlesness?
2 | The man of lawlesness | 2 Thess 2:3 | Searcher56 | 22328
Scripture ... Dan 9:26,27, 11:36; Mat 24:15; 1 Jo 2:18-22; Rev 13:6-8 the man of lawlesness is one who is against the Lawgiver and His laws ... "who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God" (vs 4). Antiochus Epiphanies did this in 169 BC, as well as Gaius Caligula, who put his image up in the Temple. However, we do not know who he is, until he sits in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God. Note in verse 7, "For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work..." When he comes, he will have power of Satan (vs 9) and some will be deceived (vs 10). Is he the antichrist ... I think so. There will be one coming who will be bigger than the many have come (1 Jo 2:18-22) Does this help?, Searcher |

Thanks. I just posted some discussion we had recently at Bible study about the "antichrist" in 1 John 2. Those views are probably more controvercial but I would appreciate your input.
