1 | Please help me to understand these verse | 2 Thess 2:13 | Searcher56 | 18313
Frank, Welcome to the forum. All you said is true. In this verse and the context, we see God has chosen (some). -We do not know who is chosen, we are not God. -We do not know why God chooses some and not others. That is the reason we need to tell all men, so they can call on His name to be saved (Rom 10:9ff). Each person still needs to take action that God started. Hope this helps. Steve |

2 | Please help me to understand these verse | 2 Thess 2:13 | crowleypreacher | 18321
Dear Joe We must realize that the God of this universe made man in His image and has always wanted fellowship with man. He also knew before he made man that if he gave him the freewill to choose right from wrong that man would inevetabily choose wrong. It was chosen from before the creation that jesus would come to earth and pay the price for man's sin. election as preached by some churches is not what is being taught here. The purpose of election here is that god does not want anyone to be lost and go to hell. After we are saved we need to study as the following verses and the whole second chapter tells us to do so that we won't be caught off gaurd by someone teaching a false doctrine. This may be a bit lengthy but I guess the preacher comes out as I answer questions no apology though I think that if more peolpe were not ashamed to live their life outloud as the songwriter said we would not have so many people who are illeriate in the Bible. May God give you the wisdom you are seeking as youcontinue to study to show your self approved unto God. Pastor tom echols |

3 | Please help me to understand these verse | 2 Thess 2:13 | Reformer Joe | 18327
Tom: Thanks for your reply. It was the original poster who cited this verse, and I by no means hold this single verse to be ironclad evidence in itself of predestination. I do hold to the Reformed view of election, though, based on the whole counsel of God. Feel free to examine my posts on this forum and respond to them, since this topic has been addressed at length in many many threads. Thanks! --Joe! |
