1 | Do not quench the Spirit | 1 Thess 5:19 | suzyq | 35200
greetings , i would like to think that i am on "fire" for God. so in my view , our connection to Him is thru the spirit that he gives us , so to "quench " would be to water it down , talk your self out of the thing the spirit would want of you.... just my thoughts. thanks, suzyq
2 | Do not quench the Spirit | 1 Thess 5:19 | Ray | 35822
Hi Suzyq, That is an interesting "word picture" for us to consider. I can see the spirit being quenched in that way. When you went on to talk about what "the spirit would want of you" I felt that you were really talking about the Spirit Himself rather than the desired fire that is given. In other words when you talk about what is wanted of you, you are speaking to the possibility of a will, a purpose, and you are talking about a Person. So I would have wanted you to capitalize Spirit. I wonder if you would consider the idea, talking from the viewpoint of capitalizing Deity, of being baptized with fire and the holy spirit. In other words are the translators/interpreters of the Scriptures correct in their rendering of Luke 3:16, "John answered and said to them all, 'As for me, I baptize you with water; but (One) is coming who is mightier than I, and I am not fit to untie the thong of His sandals; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire." Is this correct or could there be a distinguishing between the Giver and the gift? From the heart, Ray |

Hi suzyq, That's O.K. We won't be able to have a meaningful conversation as far as the spirit or Spirit is concerned until we decide to make full use of the shift keys for specific capitalizations. Please don't let me discourage your comments but most people would discourage your "shouting" and I as a "capitalizer" would encourage everyone to use those shift keys. From the heart, Ray |

listen, it does not matter the size of the letters . i don't know who made that rule , but i was taught the comp. using all caps , and i don't type very well . why should meaningful conv. only happen depending on the size of the letters? you are the second person who has told me that . i would think a discerning spirit would not hinder so many people. i also think this computer runs alot of people's lives. it's just like "the world" , thankfully , i am not of it. understand , i have people like you who need certain words caps to know they are holy- and then there are those who think i am shouting when i try to appease others. and no i don't need a typing class . i am not on this thing enough. sincerely, suzyq |

6 | Do not quench the Spirit | 1 Thess 5:19 | Listener | 36130
Suzyq, You are absolutely right, the size of the letters is not what matters. Please remember though, that communication by definition requires a receiver of the message. If a reader interprets upper-case letters as shouting, then to him or her it IS shouting. WHAT MUST I DO TO HELP YOU UNDERSTAND THIS? Of course, it is not the font or even the words you use that is important, it is the message. But, to the reader, the words, and yes, even the font, define the message. And please, keep the messages coming. I like them. Listener |

i have just about decided that this type of communication is only "communicated well " in person.
8 | Do not quench the Spirit | 1 Thess 5:19 | Listener | 36150
SuzyQ, Please don't give up on this form of communication. It may take some time to get used to, just like any other form of communication. You have a great deal to contribute, and it would be a shame if a bunch of "case protocol police" (like myself) kept you from sharing your wisdom. If I have offended, my apologies are sincerely offered. Keep on, Listener |
