1 | Possible typo | Num 24:9 | Emmy Jo | 219857
Shouldn't it read "crouched" instead of "couches?" I paid a fortune for my Bible and I'd hate to think there is a typo in it!
2 | Possible typo | Num 24:9 | JesseWSellers | 219872
The Hebrew word is "kara," which means "to bow down," or "cause to lie down." Some translations have this passage translated as "crouches," but I think in this case "couch" is correct. The meaning is to lie down, not to crouch (which is synonymous with squat). Note the context of the verse: the lion is lying down, and who will dare to wake him up? "Crouch" doesn't fit here. Genesis 49:9 is a comparable verse, in which "kara" is also translated "couches."
