eileen8, As much as is possible, submission in the New Testament refers to those "equally yoked." To try to answer your question would be too vague and would not address the problem you mentioned earlier. Submission to a non believing spouse (I assume since you said he is alcoholic) would entale all scriptures except where he would ask or expect you to violate Biblical principals. Those of course would be too involved to answer here. If you can please be more specific. On the Forum we do not generally give personal advise as this is highly unwise without knowing all the facts. Then again you would get such a wide range of answers you'd be more confused than ever. Kind of like my many answers to tonights questions............!!! God's grace to you eileen8 InGodITrust |

The submission question is one I have been asked to answer. The situation is a friend I have know for years. She has come to me for direction. My responses to her have been confirmed through these responses. But HER question is this..."Show me where my guidance is specifically in the Bible". The husband knows God's Word and is what I refer to as a "fallen Christian". He is using God's Word as a weapon against her knowing how faithful she is to the Lord, (it reminds me of Satan when he tempted Jesus) My friend wants to respond with God's Word but he beats her down with convenient scripture and she submits. She attended Al Anon meetings. He FORBADE HER to go anymore, so she stopped. I pointed out to her that no where in the Bible does it state "You shall not physically beat your wife or children" and yet we all agree God never intended for a man to treat his wife and children that wa (no physical abuse here, all emotional and mental--much harder to heal) Such behavior is entirely contrary to the Word of God. She has treated him with grace, mercy and unconditional love. I think the answer, as always is prayer. I wanted to "put the question out there" to make sure I was missing anything Biblically. God bless you all and thank you! | ||||||
