2 | Are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? | Eph 3:17 | Ray | 138149
Hi Mommapbs, Men's hearts are wicked. But when Christ dwells in our hearts by faith and we know the love of Christ, we are filled up to all the fullness of God. When God proves Himself holy and His word washes us clean, then we receive a new heart and a new spirit within us. Then we serve in newness of Spirit and follow the law of Spirit-- of life in Christ Jesus because God condemned sin in the flesh. Ephesians 3:17, Romans 7:14, Romans 8:2. Ezekiel 36:26, "Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. 27 And I will put My *spirit within you and cause you to walk in (My) statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances. 28 And you will live in the land that I gave to your forefathers; so you will be My people, and I will be your God." Ephesians 3:20, "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly beyond all that we ask or think, according to the *power that works within us, to (Him) be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen. I hope you had a blessed day. From the heart, Ray |

Hi Mommapbs, Jeremiah 17:9, "The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?" Perhaps you could contribute some thoughts to #137809 so that we can decide whether we are trying to have a heart of a god or of God. How much are we capable of doing on our own? How much are we capable of doing even if we have help from God? Jeremiah 17:9, "I, the Lord,/ search the heart, I test the mind, Even to give to each man according to his ways, According to the results of his deeds." Contrast/compare Ezekiel 28:2 Ezek 28:2, "...Because your heart is lifted up And you have said, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas'; Yet you are a man and not God/, Although you make your heart like the heart of God--" Again, do we want to make our hearts out to be like a god's or like the heart of God? What are we capable of? What does Satan think that he is capable of? Ezekiel 28:2, NKJ, "Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, 'Thus says the Lord God: "Because your heart is lifted up, And you say, 'I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, In the midst of the seas,' Yet you are a man, and not a god, Though you set your heart as the heart of god 3 (Behold,...and your heart is lifted up because of your riches)," The NKJ sees the subject of the passage as having set his heart as the heart of a god, while the NASB reads "Like the heart of God". What do you think? Psalm 82:6, "I, on my part said, "You are gods, And all of you are sons of the Most High. Nevertheless you will die like men, And fall like any one of the princes." 8 Arise, O God, judge the earth! For it is Thou who dost possess all the nations." From the heart, Ray |

5 | Are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? | Eph 3:17 | Mommapbs | 138168
Greetings again Ray - Here is a re-post of my original question: Most of us have been taught that our hearts are "deceitfully wicked," (Jer 17:9) yet Eph 3:17 declares that Christ dwells in our heart. Psalm 5:4 tells us that "no evil dwells with You" so how can this be?! So which is it: are our hearts HOLY or Wicked? Ray, please answer my question: As BELIEVERS, are our hearts holy or wicked? Blessings, mommapbs PS: You asked, are we "trying to have a heart of a god or of God. How much are we capable of doing on our own? How much are we capable of doing even if we have help from God?" This question addresses in part what I am asking us to consider. As unbelievers, we strive to be like God, Satan's original sin - rebellion against the Lordship of Jehovah. As fallen men, this same desire is resident within our heart - the heart is indeed decitful and wicked. Our hearts are turned away from God. But as you have noted, what happens when we turn to God with faith in Christ? What happens to our hearts? Jesus said, "Apart from Me, you can do nothing." Jesus also reminds us that "With people this is impossible, but with God all things are possible." (Mt 19:26)Eph 3:17 declares that Christ dwells in our heart. Thus Paul rightly observes "I can do all things through Him who strengthens me." We do nothing on own own, "for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure." Phil 2:13 |
