1 | Need help with Forgiveness and Sins. | Eph 1:7 | believer31675 | 168427
Is there a particular reference in the Bible to ask for forgiveness for NUMEROUS mistakes that have been made? Also, is there anything that says that "therapy" is bad? I know these may be strange questions, but I am still new to this and trying to get my life together. I have been going to therapy for being abused as a child. I never told a soul and kept it in for 25 years. Well, that secret finally took its toll on me and I am now needing all the help I can get. (to make a long story short). Please help me. I have made some terrible mistakes and really need to get myself out of the dark hole and into the light. Thank You.

Hello believer, Unfortunatley, the advice I give you will be limited - but hopefully sufficient! This Forum just isn't intended for counselling purposes. First and foremost, are you a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ? Have you trusted Him for your salvation? You need to start here. Secondly, scripture tells us that "In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace" (Eph. 1:7). Christ's death on the cross provided the necessary means for your and my forgiveness! We have the forgiveness of our sins if we are "in Him"- meaning we have accepted Him as our Lord and Savior! God's grace is far greater than ALL my (and your) sin and shame! Thirdly, nothing in scripture would tells us that therapy is "bad". Should you need professional help in this area- get it! I might also look for a recommendation from your Pastor (assuming you are attending a local church) or some other mature believer. However, I truly believe that the Lord is the source of all wisdom and knowledge! (Col. 2:3). His Word is, "...is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Heb. 4:12) 2 Peter 1:3 tells us that "seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence." My friend, believe it or not, the answer to all your problems are found in the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ! He is sufficient. May you seek Him and trust Him for this.(Prov. 3:5-6) God Bless, BradK |
