1 | Eph 1:18, Inheritance question? | Eph 1:18 | TEALEAD | 64900
I'm studying Ephesians chapter 1 and wondering if anyone can shed some light on the end of verse 18. Paul is praying for the eyes of our heart to be enlightened, that we may know the hope of his calling, what are the riches of the glory of HIS inheritance in the saints. When I first read it I felt it was talking about the hope we have in Christ resulting in eternal life. I also as I read thought Paul was talking about our inheritance, but by reading it closer, I note that it really says of "His inheritance in the saints." How do I interpret this verse? Is God saying that we are his inheritance? That he counts a relationship with us to be so valuable, that the end of our own hope brings us eternal joy with him and the same is true of God. Our obedience to God brings him eternal joy to inherit us as His own? Not sure if I'm making sense as I type this, but am I right to interpret this verse to say God considers those who are believers in Christ to be an inheritance all his own? Any insight would be appreciated. In Christ, Tealead |

2 | Eph 1:18, Inheritance question? | Eph 1:18 | Ray | 64903
Hi Tealead, Ephesians, chapter one, is a difficult one for me. With all the "in whom" renderings and the ending of a verse "In Him", for instance. For that reason we need to pray like verse seventeen says "that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you [us] a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him." The insight that I think that I can offer is that there is the possibility of a "holy spirit" which is given as a pledge of our inheritance. The other thing that I suggest is a look at the second part of verse 14 where the holy spirit gives us a view of our being [God's own] possession, to the praise of His glory. This may require us to listen to the message of the Truth. But a lot of this chapter for me is still "penciled in." From the heart, Ray |

Yes Tealead, Your line on it sounds pretty good. What would His inheiretance in the saints be? A bride. Every good husband is happy when he finds a bride. Who is the bride of Christ? The body of Christ. Who is the body? The saints. We who are born-again. Peace. In Christ, Chad K. |
