I am not the person who answered your first question but I am going to answer this one for you. Baptism is not the first issue we have to deal with here. We have to deal with whether or not your fathers death bed acceptance was even honored by G-d in the first place. Here is an answer that you need to consider. If your Fathers Name was not Written in the Book of Life from the Foundations of the earth - his death bed acceptance is of no use. This goes for everyone. If we as believers do not adhere to the letters to the 7 Assemblies as per Revelations 2 and 3 - we as believers whose names are written in the book of life can have our names blotted out of the book of life. Then we have to look at things like Galations 5:19 and 5:22 to determine whether or not a person has a chance at having their death bed acceptance accepted. Why? Because is true repentance possible if we are not alive to prove it to G-d? Think on this one. I know I am giving you more questions then answers right now - but only you know your father better then anyone other then G-d himself. Now - where ever two or more are gathered in the Messiahs name - what ever they ask will be granted. Did two or more true believers Pray that G-d would give your father the chance to have salvation? If yes - then you have to hope that your prayers were answered before your father dies or that your father was sent to Paradise just like the Thief was. Being sent to Paradise did not mean that the Thief or your father would have eternal salvation - what it meant was that they would have the opportunity to hear the Messiah and then to decide if they wanted to accept him or not. You and I both have the same problem when it comes to unsaved parents so what I speak to also goes for me as well. Now - to Baptism - Acceptance and Baptism are part of the salvation package. True baptism must be done in a stream or a river where the water is Moving - not in a bath tub or with a sprinkling of water. Then there is the question of the Holy Spirit. How can the Holy Spirit enter a person on his death bed in the last few minutes or hours of his life? THink on it and let us know what you come up with. I am not telling you Yes or No on your question because only Father Knows for Sure - but we can have Hope and Faith and make sure that we walk uprightly the rest of our days which is the most important answer you are seeking. We can only answer for ourselves on judgement day. My parents and your parents can only answer for themselves on judgement day. You are not going to give up your salvation for your father or anyone. The entire subject you ask about is covered big time in scripture and would take a very long time to study. I recommend that if my answer does not satisfy you that you get down to some serious studying to find out the answer yourself. It can not hurt. You might actually teach me something on this subject were you to do so. |

Shaul, There are a couple things in your post that concern me. Let me point out some of them. 1.) You seem to divorce faith and repentence from predestination. As if one could have faith and not be predestined. I get this from your saying, "If your Fathers Name was not Written in the Book of Life from the Foundations of the earth - his death bed acceptance is of no use." We can not divorce Book of Life/predestination thinking from faith and repentence. The two always go hand in hand. If one does not repent and have faith, their name is never in the book of life. If one does repent and have faith, their name is always in the book of life. Let me give a scripture to verify this. 2 Thessalonians 2:13 "But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth." Do you see here that salvation through believing is the thing being predestined? God has not only predestined the person to salvation, He has also predistined the means which is faith in the gospel. These must always be held together. So if this person received Christ through faith, then their name is indeed in the book of life. 2.) Where do you get the teaching that what Christ said to the theif on the Cross did NOT mean he was saved? Nowhere does scripture say anything of this sort so what has caused you to state it so confidently? 3.) And again, you ask if the Holy spirit can enter a person in the last few minutes of their life? What SPECIFIC scripture makes you think that He can not? 4.) Finally, I have much to object about your view of baptism but that would go far to long for a single post. But in short, this notion of flowing water being required is an error, and the notion that one can not be saved without it is an error. I do hope the person you were responding to will see your errors and not be troubled by them. In Christ, Beja |

Hmmmm - I will study and get back to you on this. How ever - you assume that one is given the Grace to repent ( meaning their name is written in the book of life ). They have the free will to refuse the grace to repent which would eventually get their names Blotted out of the Book of Life, just like those that First Repented and got saved and then decided to turn their backs on the truth as warned in the Letters to the 7 Assemblies of Revelation - Beware I do not blot your name out of the book of life. I take it you believe that once saved always saved. If that is the case - then I will surely give you scripture to prove the opposite. But I will study your thoughts and get back to you. 2. Yashua said to the Thief - today you will be with me in Paradise - he did not say Heaven or the Heaven of Heavens where the throne room of G-d is. This neither tells us the Theif was saved or not - I will grant you that my opinion is that once Yashua spoke to everyone in Paradise - at the very least, the thief said - "I Do". 3. I was proposing a question to be studied - maybe being a Jew and asking a question with a question is not what others expect to hear - but it may help them to want to study more on the subjects they ask about. I will reread how I wrote things based on your comments and see if I need to change my presentation to be more polished - thank you for your comments. 4. Need to reread what I wrote first. Will respond shortly. |

Shaul, I prefer to say that I believe in the perseverance of the saints rather than once saved always saved, because much of what people intend to mean by "once saved always saved" is very unbiblical. You are constructing very strange ideas from some vary sparse references in scripture. How is it that you have come up with the notion that to have your name written in the book of life means that you will be given the grace to have a chance to repent, but then rejecting that means that your name is then blotted out? It seems like you have built your entire soteriology upon some few verses in revelations while not considering the majority of scripture. 2. Again, you are constructed very wide notions of paridise, heaven and heavens of heavens from no scriptural supportt. What was the real substance in what Christ said was that the theif would be with HIM. Nowhere IN SCRIPTURE do we have any basis to believe that this means something else other than salvation, especially not the notion of some sort of holding facility where he would then be given a chance to decide his eternal fate. All caps in this post were meant to draw attention to emphasis, and not any loss of temper. You actually discussing these things and considering my points is refreshing. In Christ, Beja |

1. I do not believe in once saved always saved. Rev 3:5 He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. I think Gal 5:19 also shows that believers who are so to speak saved will not have eternal life if they do these things. 2. Regarding the Thief - I use the KJV for you. (Luk 23:43) And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise. As I said - you may not understand how I communicate - but these scriptures and more definitely communicate to me a clear message. Again - we can learn how to communicate by clarifying our comments to each other until we realize we agree. We can not both use the same scripture to mean two different things. Therefore if I find myself in error - I will repent as I do not know everything at all - but I also did not grow up in the Christian world so many things about Christianity do not make biblical sense to me. The Thief is a curious subject - but is better understood if we take the Book of Enoch into consideration. and the book of enoch is referred to atleast two times if not 3x - both in the Old and New Testament. |
