1 | Having Christ in a relationship | Gal 5:16 | blessedcookie | 21661
I have a boyfriend who is saved and also is a pastor's son. He loves the Lord, but the way he lives no one would recognize that. I, on the other hand seem to be on a deeper level than he is, continually seeking to live a life blameless and pure from sin. The thing is i know i should tell him that the way he lives (fighting, little faith, etc.) is outside of God's will, but how. I know that in the bible it tells you that if you see a brother in sin to show him his wrongs, but not judge them, so how would i go about doing that? Any insight? (Please leave a scripture reference if possible so i could share it w/ him)
2 | Having Christ in a relationship | Gal 5:16 | Makarios | 21662
Greetings blessedcookie! One way that you could "open" up your friend's eyes to "spiritual maturity" is to begin to stress the Fruits of the Spirit, found in Galatians 5:16-26. One of the best ways to find other Christians is to observe their "fruit", to observe the Godliness that comes from their life day by day. A good tree does not bear bad fruit and a bad tree does not bear good fruit. (Luke 6:43-45) Therefore, the sinful deeds are obvious! Sexual immorality, impurity, witchcraft, hatred, fighting, selfish ambition, etc, etc (Gal. 5:19-21). People who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the Fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control. Against such things, there is no law! :) But we must not become conceited with our fellow brothers and sisters (who may not be producing good 'fruit'); we must help to spur them onto maturity in their faith in gentleness and love. I hope that this helps! Nolan |
