Cascade: With no disrespect intended, I have made it a personal choice not to address anyone by a church title, Pastor, Rev, Elder, Deacon, or what ever the title trys to convey. In this Forum respect is EARNED by kindness, respect, and genuine reguard for each other. Your attitude is perplexing for me. No. I have no intention in handing you a wet blanket, just my opinion. How would one know that this book, is timeless and closed for my review? For me the only book that gets that kind of respect is Scripture alone. The fact that in the 1950's the family structure was much different than now, makes dealing with men and women of today different. If one has a marriage that is so structured as 50 some years ago, that in itself is a very rare occurance. I would suggest that there are better books for men and women to read, which would include equal submission and is more Biblical than a dictator ruling the home with a strong hand. As for wasting your time I sincerely regret the time I caused you to waste. I most assuredly hope my response is not too much of a waste of your valuable time or emotions. Perhaps when you have something kinder to say, with Christian respect, I would be open for further dialogue. Is this the way an Elder earns respect? Or is the title just a way of demanding respect? justme |

When coupled with the proffesor's teaching yes it could and he used it as such. Just as Scripture taken out of context can be used to serve one purpose, so can other books as well. Does this help? Blessings. justme

I strongly disagree with your take of the book. It does not teach unreasonable authority. It reasons out authority as residing in God and what His Word says goes! I can't believe you thing that is strong handed (unreasonable) authority. So please re-read chapter three as one great test case and you'll see why I see it as being so biblical.
