The ability to understand the Bible is a gift from God, given through the Holy Spirit. It is NOT something that any particular group of people have sole possession of. You do not have to join any group of men to be able to understand the Bible. You DO need to pray and ask God for understanding, and He will use the Holy Spirit to allow you to understand your Bible reading. Unsaved people do not understand the Bible because it is foolish to them. They are not saved. Saved people love the Word of God, and they understand it, and most importantly, they obey what God says in the Bible. It is important to study the Bible for yourself, so when you hear people making claims that go against scripture, you recognize it as counterfeit immediately. If a denomination has teachings that go against scripture, then do not follow that denomination. Saved people do not require you to go against scripture. Many people are deceiving themselves and their followers when they make statements and demands that go against scripture. Those people are not preaching with the Holy Spirit in them, and the proof is that they go against scripture. Avoid them like the plague. They are workers of sin, not workers of salvation. Nothing in the Bible supports the concept that you must join a specific denomination to understand the Bible. |
