Tithing a temple tax?? Why did Abraham give a tithe to Melchizadek? No temple, no Israel. Tithing is an eternal principle. Ministering of the tithe is what changed. Abraham tithed to the High Priest of God, Then it transfered to the Livites, and then it changed again and we now again tithe to God's own High Priest - Jesus Christ who is after the order of Melchizadec. This is God's earth, God's universe. If you want to live here, the pay your rent (tithe). Since he is not here to contact, then we must determine who are his representatives. For example, a group can get together, collect tithes from the group and use them to proclaim the gospel message to others - no formal org needed - we each have a direct relationship with our Lord and Savior. Jesus praise the Pharisees for tithing of the mint and annis, but then told them they were neglecting the weightier matters of the law - a law of love. That law of love determines how tithes should be used, not if but how. |
