Glory means beauty or perfection. Glory to glory means one level of glory to another (higher) level. In the passage in 2 Corinthians 3, Paul says that we look at the Lord Jesus Christ and by so doing we become more and more like him. One way to understand a statement like that is to look it up in a modern translation. Even those who prefer the King James Version can glance at another version such as the Amplified Version now and then for that purpose. |

Hi Elder, I can offer you these Scriptures to compare for reflection and meditation. 2 Corinthians 3:17, "Now the (Lord) is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the GLORY OF THE **Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit./" Romans 8:18, "The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of (God), and if children, heirs also, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him in order that we may also be GLORIFIED WITH **Him. For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the anxious longing of the creation waits eagerly for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will, but because of Him/ who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself also will be set free from its slavery to corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God." John 4:24, "(God) is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit [Spirit?] and truth. The woman said to **Him,...25 Jesus said to her, 'I who speak to you am He.'" Ephesians 2:13, "But now in Christ Jesus you who formerly were far off have been brought near by the blood of (Christ). For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into one, and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall, by abolishing in His flesh the enmity, which is the Law of commandments contained in ordinances, that in **Himself He might make the two into one new man, thus establishing peace, and might reconcile them both in one body to God/ through the cross, by it having put to death the enmity. And 'He came and preached peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near'; for through Him we both have our access in one (Spirit) to the Father." Compare and contrast: 2 Corinthians 3:2, "You are our letter, written in our hearts, known and read by all men; being manifested that you are a letter of Christ, cared for by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living (God), not on tablets of stone, but on tablets of human hearts....6...servants of a new covenant, not of the letter, but of the **Spirit; for the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life. 7 But if the ministry of death, in letters engraved on stones, came with glory, so that the sons of Israel could not look intently at the face of Moses because of the glory of his face, fading as it was, how shall the ministry of the Spirit/ fail to be even more with glory?" The parentheses, slashes, and stars are mine for comparisons. Galatians 4:4, "But when the fulness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law, in order that He might redeem those who were under the Law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit/ of His Son into our hearts, crying, "(Abba!) Father." Praise be to our triune God; one Lord, one God, one Spirit. May we see the light of the gospel of the glory of (Christ), who is the image of God. 2 Cor 4:4. For God/, who said, "Light shall shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of (Christ)." 2 Corinthians 4:6 From the heart, Ray |
